Maybe its a myth but I've heard that we have almost as many boats in Seattle as we have people. Probably not true, but if you go to Shilshole you won't think its way off the mark. Its a great place to walk in good weather, do a bit of boat ogling and stop at one of the places to... More

Unless you own a boat, or like to walk your dog near the sea, you may not know of this place at the end of the road. It's not on the way to anywhere (unless you're headed out on the Puget Sound). No ferry comes here, there is practically nothing to eat, and the road literally dead ends here in... More

Recently stayed here and found the facilities to be first class. Major bicycle trails accessing Ballard and Seattle. West Marine close by.Surprised that there is no marina provided internet wifi. The local pay wifi by xfinity is slow and unreliable and not inexpensive. This is amazing to me as this is a 1200 slip marina and with the tech boom... More

We took a kayaking tour from this bay. It has beautiful views of the mountain. Parking was easy. We saw somes seals and an eagle. Beautiful marina.

The Olympic Mountains are out on sunny days as you look across Puget Sound. I took my mother on a stroll along the sidewalk that is about a mile long as we checked out some beautiful sailboats. As you head north you will see a small snack place to get an ice cream cone. Just past that is Golden Gardens... More

Shilshole Marina is located not to far from Ballard. If you're interested you could charter a boat and go fishing or just spend time on the water. It is also one of the great places to watch the sunset. There are also some very good places to eat as well.

Last minute decision to find a charter for a few hours of fishing in the Puget Sound. Luckily we found a boat captain and caught 3 silver salmon. Beautiful day!

Just a beautiful place to watch the sunsets. It is nice to get away from the bustling city and see a different side of life, which is much more calm and serene. Take pictures of all of the beautiful masts and see life beyond the locks. You can rent paddle boards or even go out sailing or on a power... More

When it seems that everyone else in Ballard is scrambling to get to their jobs in the “land of the Amazonians” (i.e., South Lake Union), my pal Riley and I often enjoy a leisurely weekday-morning stroll from our lovely home on lower Phinney Ridge to the Shilshole Marina. When we arrive at the marina, I often smile at my all-time... More
