About
This must-see museum exhibits creative and colorful blown glass sculptures of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. Eight indoor galleries and lush landscaped gardens feature a mix of new and past significant works. They are awe-inspiring whether you visit during the day, or in the evening when the sculptures are lit up. The highlight here is a 100-foot-long glass sculpture suspended in a glass conservatory—one of his largest ever. Located at the base of the iconic Space Needle, you might want to buy a combined ticket for cost savings or get a Seattle City Pass. – Tripadvisor

- tinaNtravelSan Jose, California2,009 contributionsAmazing glass structures/artChihuly Gardens was amazing. The glass arrangements, their size, and their amazing colors, exceeded expectations. After going through the indoor museum section, be sure to walk around the outside – as there are a lot more glass sculptures outside mixed in with the garden. Also be sure to watch the mini-movies to see how the glass arrangements were made and to learn more about the artist. There are approx. 5-6 films, each approx. 5 minutes in length and they play right after each other in a loop. There was also a small demonstration of glass making outside near the small walk in theater.Visited August 2023Travelled soloWritten September 10, 2023
- Kelly TOverland Park, Kansas27 contributionsA mesmerizing immersive experience - a must do!I was a little skeptical going in as how exciting can blown glass really be? However, it was more than that and truly an immersive experience as the gardens and other decor complimented the glass sculptures and vice versa. Such talent and beauty on display I wanted to linger and linger.Visited September 2023Written September 12, 2023

For someone who isn’t into art at all I was blown away. The colors and the craftsmanship is outstanding. - Grover RPensacola, Florida21,930 contributionsIncredible Attraction - Our Favorite Thing in SeattleThere are a lot of great things to do in Seattle; however, it is clear why this is number one. Dale Chihuly is an artist from Washington who specializes in blown glass. We have had a chance to see a number of his works like the lobby of the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Here in the former spaces of the World's Fair at the base of the Space Needle, Seattle has dedicated a gallery to some of his best works including one tailor made for a unique venue space. I will say the glass is beautiful and amazing by itself with all the colors. However, the way the gallery lights them especially against a black background makes for an incredible display. See the pictures as I could not get over them. The colors are simply incredible. However, there is more as you enter a uniquely designed glass venue where above you hangs blown glass that looks and feels like fall leaves in the wind. Even more impressive is noticing the Space Needle above you. I imagine you can rent this room for weddings or events, and it is an incredible space. You then get to go outside to see more exhibits in the gardens. These are impressive the way they mix the glass with the plants and buildings like the glass venue and Space Needle. All in all, this is a great attraction that everyone in our group thought was the best part of our Seattle visit. I am not a big art person, but this was well worth seeing, simply amazing.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 21, 2023
- EdwelshNorth Canton, Ohio7,157 contributionsSpeechlessFantastic, beautiful, awe inspiring. True genius on display here. We were so impressed, so amazed. I know that’s a lot of superlatives, but it’s just so incredible. You really need to see this for yourself if you are in the area. There is an inside museum, an outdoor garden display, a theater and even an upscale restaurant and bar.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 23, 2023
- amandak616Erie, Pennsylvania104 contributionsIncredibly beautiful and engaging installationsOur visit to Chihuly was a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a recent trip to Seattle. We enjoyed walking around seeing the various installations, which were all indescribably beautiful. We also took the time to stay for one of the glass blowing demonstrations, which was so informative and engaging. I'm so glad we added this to our itinerary and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something to do in Seattle!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 26, 2023
- Family6768Owings Mills, Maryland22 contributionsFun and educational tours!Chillagully Gardens was absolutely beautiful!! It amazing to see awesome colors entwined and blown into glass. Educational and fun at the same time. The only disappointing thing was that the garden was closed due to an event . Will definitely come back. A great suggestion is to use " City Pass" to get a good deal to visit different areas of Seattle. Have fun!!Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten September 30, 2023

I cannot believe it’s all glass considering how they make it. I watched all the videos in the theater. I loved the audio tour. Gift shop is on par with prices of others. Definitely go to Chihuly!Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten October 2, 2023

We had an amazing time at Chihuly Museum. They’re currently limited the number of visitors to create a safe place. Masks are fully enforced during the entire self tour.
Before arrival, order tickets online and it’s a short queue when you check in.
We highly recommend the short audio tour that can be downloaded from the QR code located in each of the rooms. It gives you insight on his creative insight and the process of why he created these colorful masterpieces.

As I moved from room to room throughout the exhibit I found myself overwhelmed with so much colorful amazing beauty. It was absolutely worth my time to visit this exhibit. The web based audio guide was extremely well put together and described each room in detail. I would say, this is a must see... PS, my iPhone photos do not do this any justice.

At a price tag of $35 per person, we weren't sure if we wanted to do this, especially when we walked by it in the park and realized it isn't as big as we thought it was going to be. We walked through the park and saw the other sites and decided to go back and pay the fee, after all, when would we see something like this again? I am so glad we did! While it is not something I would pay to see a second time, it is certainly beautiful and absolutely amazing to see. I was glad we were a little later in the day when the crowds had thinned out some, if it gets too crowded you end up being shuffled through with the wave of people and it makes it hard to appreciate the amazing glass work. I would definitely recommend this stop to anyone that loves art, glass, or vivid displays of color. I would love to be able to tell you if the inside or outside displays were better, but they were both so unique from one another that there is really no comparing the two; in that sense, it was like getting two tours.

We visited Chihuly years ago on our very first trip to Seattle and came back this time. It was just as awesome as our first time. We took the monorail [3 bucks, 2 minute ride) from downtown to Seattle Center and had lunch in Queen Anne first. We then walked back to Chihuly, bought tickets outside the door at the kiosks and walked in. They have you do 2 turns in a UV light disinfecting machine and off you go. There are 8 or 9 permanent displays of really beautiful glass art installations. Written explanations/interpretations of each are on the walls but aren't so long or verbose as to be overbearing. The Persian ceiling installation is really cool as you walk through a short hall and look up at all these pieces of glass resting on top of a clear glass ceiling. The garden display is also great as all these pieces are formed together to evoke a garden. You get to the tail end of your visit when you visit the glasshouse and the garden which has all these works displayed outside in a more natural environment. There's also an outside corridor where they hang 7 chandeliers of the different colors of the spectrum. Finally, there's a short film on some of the work Dale Chihuly has done in his career and then the gift shop. Awesome place - a really unique museum - worth it despite the 33 dollar per person price tag. Also, part of the Seattle City Pass if you're here for a longer stay and you want to see more sites. Can also be bought with the Space Needle as a combo pass for 47 bucks I believe. Great activity if it's not raining and great way to be indoors for when it does.

I purchased the space needle and Chihuly garden combo tour - so the entrance fee to Chihuly gardens was just a few dollars extra. We did the space needle one evening and were able to use the ticket the next day for the garden. We were told you can use the ticket within 24 hours. The glass art and sculptures were amazing and unique - defiantly good for the artistic eye. We completed the tour in less than an hour. Travelled with adults, seniors and teenagers. Would not have paid full ticket price for this tour.

A must see and visit. Combine your visit with the space needle. I recommend taking time to watch the videos and to take in the glass blowing demonstration. The shear scale of the art is amazing. The garden area is a beautiful balance between natural and man made art

This is probably the most extensive Chihuly exhibit in one place - given the outdoor garden and really impressive greenhouse installation. The man* does do impressive things with glass, and if you've never experienced something like this before in toto, you should. *However, having seen lots of this in the past year or two, I've come to realize this is basically production work. The ceilings are installed in at least a dozen museums, the pots are the same basic shape everywhere as are the chandeliers, and garden/sea plants. It's always dazzling when beautifully lit and you don't tire of it, you just realize it's being stamped out (albeit formed by glass artists) is huge numbers. Is it worth seeing? Of course. I just felt the $57 combo Needle/Garden ticket was a little too dear. (Indeed some of the Chihuly experience + more duplicated at Tacoma's Museum of Glass for rather less $$)

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Chihuly Museum. The exhibits were breathtaking. The artistry and workmanship is beautiful. We were able to see a demonstration of the blown glass process and it was both informative and engaging. For adults who appreciate art and culture on a different level, this is worth the time and money!

I am hesitant to give less than four stars on any review but I felt like this was such a rip off and wish I had heard these things before I wasted my money. I wanted to visit this exhibit because of all of the photos I had seen. There was nothing displayed that I had not already seen in the pictures and the displays weren’t any grander than what I had already seen in pictures. Sometimes you have to see it with your own eyes to appreciate it, this was not one of those times. This would have been worth $15 or maybe even $20 in my opinion, not the $39 I paid. We were in and out within 30 minutes and we did take our time as we wanted to get lots of photos. The glassblowing demonstration was not very good because it was just a small kiosk type of cart with an artist behind some plexiglass that you couldn’t see or hear very well. It was also in their courtyard with no shade and the sun was very strong and hot on the day we visited. There was a video of something to watch (still not sure what it was) but it was a small room packed with people and we didn’t feel safe with the possibility of catching COVID. I had visited the MoPop, Pacific Science Center, and the Space Needle on a previous trip to Seattle and I felt they were all worth the price and time that this was not.

Unsure of arrival time so hesitant to purchase timed ticket online. Can I buy onsite with no issue?
Written May 17, 2024
Hi Sally! You can for sure purchase tickets onsite with no issues. You might just have to wait in a small line depending on the time of day you go.
Written July 2, 2024
I have a timed ticket for Chihuly Gardens and Glass. The ticket says 12pm to 2pm. Do I have to be there by 12pm to get in?
Written January 9, 2024
No, you can enter at any time within your “slot” and stay as long as you want. And, as another reviewer noted, they may not be as strict depending on crowd size/season.
Written January 24, 2024
Depending on the time of day it can be quite busy, but there is lots to see nearby too. We did not purchase in advance and only had to wait 10 minutes. Don’t forget to do the Chihuly gardens at the end of the inside gallery. Good luck.
Written August 6, 2023
if i buy a combo ticket w/ space needle, do i have to do both on same day?
Written October 1, 2022
I believe you do if you purchased them from the facility. Check the website where you made the purchase, it should have a FAQ that addresses your question.
Written October 3, 2022
How strict is the timed ticket? Can you arrive after your ticket time?
Written July 16, 2022
There is no timed ticket per se. You click on the time that you are buying your ticket if you use the kiosk outside. You go in and stay as long as you like. I would say 2 hours is not an unusual amount of time especially if you watch the videos of him and his getting ready for some of his major exhibitions. There are some unusual pieces in the garden. There is also a small cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed the time there. If you like Chihuly's work then this is a must see.

Does Chihuly accommodate disable with wheelchairs?
Written April 11, 2022
Yes? There is wheelchair access as much as
I remeber. We had an "opening party " and it was a bit cramped, but still handicapped access was available.
In general, there is plenty of room, just not at exactly that time!
Written April 12, 2022
How time should one set aside for this attraction? We are going to come here and the space needle.
Written March 18, 2022
If the weather is nice, you might want to plan a whole morning or afternoon to see both. If visibility is poor, you wouldn't want to
spend a great deal of time at the Space Needle and part of the Chihuly is outside. Plan according to weather.
