The building and bathrooms were pretty clean, I liked that, but the homeless and filth oytside from the homeless people was not so appealing. The guy inside (between wearing a mask and HEAVY accent) was very hard to understand.
Whyyyyyy do they have the worst english speaking person there making announcements ???

There is a taxi stand right outside the King Street Amtrak Train Station. Uber was going to cost about $30 to go to the Pike Place Market area. I asked several drivers how much it would cost to go to Pike Place Market. I found on that would take is for $15. I gave him a $5 tip.

Station lights were mostly off when I arrived late, but its a beautiful old station. And like most inner city train stations, King Street does attract a host of folks sleeping there. Easy to get a ride to and from station.

Nice clean station. Only drawback is nothing for stores built in. And Amtrak doesn't have a lounge for first class passengers like Chicago and Los Angeles and many others do, hopefully one day they will.

King street station is small with minimal services (no coffee stand, no lounge). But it’s very nicely restored. Boarding for the early-morning Amtrak Cascades was handled with efficiency. I want to single out Amtrak employee David, who went out of his way to help when my husband lost his phone. We didn’t find it, but David continued to hunt for it even after we boarded our train and texted me to update. Very generous! Thank you!

Inside is beautiful and clean. However, no cafe, convenience store, or other retail. Security staff keeps vagrants out. Ticket counter and baggage check. No Amtrak lounge.
Just a place to board and and get off trains. About a block's walk from LINK light rain station.

About a block's walk away (and an escalator or elevator ride) is Chinatown, with many eating places.

The drink vending machine did not work, not that there was much in there to chose from. There is no food at the station. You have to walk down the street to get food. When I was there I could not get take out at the restaurant had to dine in. The food was good but expensive.

Always well lit & clean with gorgeous interiors and very helpful staff. It has an unusual set-up, as there are actually 2 street level entrances. One is on the ground level accessed by a turn off 2nd AV S, adjacent to Centurylink Field's parking lot. It has a drop off & pick up point as well as some limited parking and is considered the front door. Also there is a street level entry on its second floor across a pebble courtyard off S. Jackson St. which is the easiest if you are coming in via bus or light rail to International Station. You can also take Weller Street Walk between the buildings at Intl. Station to a road crossing, over a bridge and use either the elevator or steps to access the same parking lot level. There are no lockers at this station so you will have to take luggage with you if you are taking a walk about for a layover.
Be Aware of the Limited Food Options!! No restaurant in this station!
There is only one tiny snack wagon for food at King Station! However, if you are coming in from any of the International Station options or if you are a local have your ride drop you there on 5TH because then you can stop there & get provisions!
Above and around the block however International Station has multiple food options including a Starbucks, Tully's, Specialty Cafe & Bakery as well as Uwajimaya a fabulous Asian Grocery & more store across 5Th AV. South.
King St Station has stunning white mosaic and marble tiles, gorgeous light with sparkles of gold & massive windows. Original gorgeous old fashioned massive wooden benches, antique fixtures and clocks, during the holidays smartly decorated and some extra seating in the corners. There are drink and snack machines, bathrooms, security & a walk up counter during their hours.
Enjoy your wait & listen for your All Aboard!

My husband and I have spent a week in Seattle. We have reserved online tic Amtrak train from Seattle to Vancouver, instead of flying. Ticket was coach class at $75 each (I only bought a week in advance). We arrived the King Street station at 6:30 am for the 7:45 am train. There was a short line to check luggage, it’s free but maximum 50 pounds each. Then, we lined up at the Seat Assignment (Vancouver Canada) booth. There were two people working on assigning seats and it was all manual with a sticker. Line moved quickly. We were all done in half an hour, then we waited in the pretty station for boarding. Train departed on time sharp, it’s 90% full. We have the left side window seats in car #9. Train was little old. There’s electrical charger and WiFi but very slow. Temperature inside train was little chill. Washroom in each car but turned dirty. Bistro car at the end, price was not cheap. Scenery was beautiful. The train run slow with a few stops. Also it had made a long pause (15 minutes) to match a meeting point with the other train from Vancouver. It took about 5 hours to arrive the PAC. Then, we have to wait for luggage to be manually loaded on the platform before we were allowed to get off the train by each car. We picked up our luggage and lined up for the Canada Immigration counter. No security check for luggage nor individuals at all. Waiting time to get through the Immigration was about 20 minutes. At the PAC, there’s ATM and currency exchange counter. Walking distance to Skytrain, and taxi booth. Overall, the train ride was good, more comfortable than the flight, but slow and expect delays.

We traveled from the Mt Vernon area to visit the Seattle Convention Center for ComicCon this March, and decided to try the train instead of our vehicle, to avoid the parking and traffic hassles. Our first impression of the King Street Station was spectacular -- on our sunny day the light streamed into the high windows and lit the pillars, ceiling embossing, and raised carvings. We felt like we had moved into another century! Even the kids were impressed. The last time I had visited they were still renovating, and after seeing the final product, I was delighted. The whole feel of the station was changed.

Sadly, Amtrak ran 30 minutes late to Seattle, and almost 1 hour late on the return trip - which is probably not entirely their fault as they had to wait for freight trains, but was disappointing. For them to be a real transportation resource, they really have to work on their schedule so it is accurate.

PROS: The station is very clean, beautiful, and safe. Bathrooms are easily located and decent in size. The personnel are helpful and try their best to work with your needs. The trains are fun to ride on, especially the newer ones, and not driving was wonderful! Easy walk to local bus stations - directions via Google Maps or other mapping program should give you options about where to go to catch the right bus. Also is in walking distance to many attractions, but most will involve walking up or down hills. Taxis were available outside the train station. Don't forget to factor in bus fares to your trip -- easily found online -- they were $2.50 for adults and $1.25 for youths 18 and younger at the time I was here - payable in exact change.

CONS: No food in station, although this wasn't really something that mattered. The train doesn't stop long enough to allow through passengers to get off to eat, and there are plenty of restaurants within an easy walk of the station. The high ceilings and marble floor make it very difficult to understand announcements made by the train personnel at times. Lots of echoes! Trains run consistently late so make sure you have something to read or do while waiting at the station.

BOTTOM LINE: As far as visiting the station - if you were near it but not riding the train, I think you could see it in 15 minutes or less. It is beautiful, but unless you are interested in architecture or historical buildings I probably wouldn't make a point of including it on a Seattle tour. However, it is a impressive place to see before / after a train trip, and is located very nicely to provide a jumping off point to explore Seattle . . .
