This 12-acre-park at Lake Union's southern edge has much to offer residents and tourists, including the Center for Wooden Boats, the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) and a model boat pond, which is quite popular with children. I always find it fun to wander around the small center and to look at the various wooden boats. This costs nothing, but there are generally charges for boat rentals, classes and workshops. On Sundays, visitors can take a free sail in a classic boat.
MOHAI is one of my favorite Seattle museums, because of its excellent exhibits and fascinating special exhibitions, such as the prohibition era in Seattle. The museum is free the first Thursday of the month; otherwise, visitors must pay admission.
As a history buff, I especially enjoy the Historic Ships Wharf. Vessels include the 1904 Swiftsure, an iron lighthouse ship with a red hull and original coal-fired engine, and Arthur Foss, an 1889 wooden tugboat that starred in the 1933 film, "Tugboat Annie."
A footbridge joins the two sections of the park, separated by a small piece of the lake and a little inlet. It has been closed for a year, however, because of lateral movement problems and repair and reopening have yet to be scheduled. Thus, visitors must follow a concrete pathway around the inlet to get from one side to the other.
Many benches beckon. On sunny days, I like to go into the museum's cafe and get one of the tasty baked items and a cup of coffee to go. Then I sit on a bench and watch the activity at nearby Kenmore Air, where float planes come and go.
Canadian geese present a drawback, because of their droppings. I counted 21 geese on my last visit and they had created quite the mess on both the grass and the sidewalks. I recommend careful scrutiny of the ground before sprawling anywhere in the area.
This urban park is easily accessible from Downtown, via bus, streetcar or foot.

We were staying nearby & feeling the jet lag, so took a little stroll, not knowing that we would stumble on this little gem! We only walked around the boatyard and my daughter played in the fountains, but it was a lovely, calm space to chill.

A sizable park by the water in Seattle where you can enjoy the great views around Lake Union, and simply have a relaxing stroll/ seat while seeing the landing and exiting of the seaplanes of Kenmore Air. I found the scene quite fascinating given not many cities have seaplanes. It is also a popular spot for yacht parking so you may spot some fancy ones for a picture or two too.
All in all, a very nice place to be esp. when the weather is amazing out!

Lake Union Park is a small park located on Lake Union. It's close to Mohai and the Center for Wooden boats. One thing could do is bring a picnic and watch the boat and float planes. Fun!

We stayed at a nearby hotel and this park was a convenient and picturesque place to take a stroll. A lot of water and boat (and seaplane) related sights and activities nearby.

This park had good views of planes taking off on the lake as well as boats along the edge. The park also had some nice fountains.

This is a nice park located on Lake Union. It's located on the south end of the lake. Easy to find and many things to see near by...sail boats, float planes, center for Woodenboats and more.

We visited the Historic Ships Wharf and were able to tour two ships. The Arthur Foss is a wooden tugboat built in 1889. Some volunteers were working on the boat while we were there, and we got a chance to visit with them. The Virginia V is a steam-powered ferryboat that was being used as a ferry until 1972. Then we toured the Lotus, a vintage (built in1909) houseboat being used as a B & B and event rental space. It is also on the National Register of Historic Places. It was an interesting way to spend an hour.
