This is the large building across from the Visitor's Center. You have to go through airport like security to get inside but they have some nice huge (stuffed) animals on display and some good exhibits. There is a schedule of movies and we saw one...More

Bird TLC are a passionate group who rescue injured birds and home them. They have a public presentation of a bird. We had time with a snowy owl. Very interesting. A suitable non threatening venue for a sensitive bird.

This Alaska Public Lands, as well as the visitor’s center across the street, are great places to stop for information about the area. The Public Lands facility offers free programs and movies that run throughout the day. Check their website for specific dates and times....More

Great place with a wealth of information about the area. A short film about the 1964 earthquake with great footage. There is a display of the different wildlife in the area. To top it all off it is FREE!

You can't this for informative and free! Be prepared for the security screening since it is located in a government building. Lots of natural history exhibits. Rangers and crew offer a wealth of information. Topographic maps of Alaska available for viewing. I enjoyed several of...More

Stop here if you need some information about what to do and where to go while you are in Anchorage. Wonderful staff, movie about the earthquake, bathroom facilities and a great area to learn about the wildlife. Maps available.

Probably dark and cold. I would not recommend as the best time to go.
