This cruise was part of a Holland America land/cruse tour. It was rainy but we were still able to see a glacier close up in a small boat and the scenery along the lake was lovely. Highly recommend this boat ride.

The hour long cruise offers the best view of the glacier. We went on a warm day in July but needed a jacket on the cruise for the upper deck. The upper deck is the best viewing location. The cruise has park ranger providing information...More

We have visited the Kenai Peninsula several times and one of our favorite stops in the area is Portage Lake. We had admired the ice floes floating in the lake, with their twisted shapes and beautiful glacial colors, but hadn't actually seen Portage Glacier itself....More

I recommend coming early before the boat depart. The ticket place is completely separate from the dock (about 10 mins away). As for the viewing areas, the top deck is nice but can be windy. The tail end of the lower deck allows you view...More

Very good value and you get up close and personal with a glacier. As a bonus you learn about the history of the region and see some fantastic scenery.

There were packages that you could purchase in the hotel lobbies for the glacier tour that included transportation to and from various anchorage hotels.
