Arctic Valley is a popular destination for wilderness lovers in all seasons! During the winter, the ski area and snow tubing park is only open on weekends, and provides a fun, friendly, laid-back, and affordable experience. In the summer, the trailhead is open 7 days/week, and provides a variety of hiking options close to Anchorage. From short, easy trails overlooking the South Fork of Eagle River Valley or Ship Creek Valley, to climbing up Rendezvous Peak or Mount Gordon Lyon, there are plenty of options. Lodge rentals are also available during the summer for weddings or other events.

Arctic Valley is a great place to walk your dog, take in some great views, and pick berries come August! For a less intense hike (compared to those like Flat Top) but one that will still get your heart pumping, try this one!

We took a drive for old time's sake to check out Arctic Valley where I learned to ski while assigned to then Fort Richardson. The road is still dirt but very busy and dusty. Apparently, the city of Anchorage owns the ski area and Chugach State Park owns the trail heads. It was a nostalgic visit, but would recommend for... More

Took a ride down memory lane going up to the Arctic Valley Ski Area. On the way back down we encountered a family of Black Bears browsing along the side of the road near the Moose Run Golf Course...very nice trip.

Depending on time on year you could ski, pick blueberries, or see untold beauty from Arctic valley. You can drive up the gravel road and stop numerous places to take exquisite pictures. From on top you can see Anchorage and the Cook inlet. You can watch the very busy Glenn Hwy and the traffic rushing back and forth. If your... More

My two friends were here visiting from New York, and we were looking to kill some time. It was a pretty drive but it was kinda cloudy that day so the view wasn't as impressive as it could be.

unpaved road up the mountain, but still a beautiful drive! There are a couple pull-offs for viewing, take your camera, there are some beautiful views. When you reach the top there is a parking lot. Lock-up the car. Take a walk. You can hike up the mountain. In the summer this place is beautiful. Lush green valleys, a variety of... More
