Fur Rondezvous is coming again this February starting on the 22nd through March 4th. It's a time for carnival rides and fun in general plus the start of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. I'm listing this event under the Alaska Railroad Depot as it is one of the few places that is warm and has restrooms open to the public.... More

The gift shop had a variety of gifts and souvenirs. I was able to bring home several gifts for my family and grandchildren that I know they will enjoy.

Small station. In one door and out the other to the trains. Can check bags outsides. Everyone gathers together in one room. Close to downtown. Several hotels within walking distance. Several others with shuttles. Ticket office inside is very convenient. We were there in July (high season) and there would have been no problem getting on any train at last... More

The Guesthouse Inn, took us to the Railroad Depot, where we boarded for Fairbanks. It was nice indoors too. No delays, everything went like clock-work.

Great gift shop in summer, limited hours in winter (no Tourists). People are very helpful. Pictures of past events on the railroad Prints, Poster & Pins on sale. During Fur Rondy, there is a model train set up by MSMRRE.

Nice little place to look around while waiting for the train. Lot to look at and read. Liked reading about the history and how many people it took to finish it.

The Depot has been well preserved since it was established. The staff take pride in explaining the history of this place. All the different train routes start or pass thru here. The aurora train from anchorage to fairbanks was a good trip and is recommended during winter. The staff on board are awesome.

We took the train from the Alaska Railroad Depot to Seward, AK. It was about 4 hours each way and was a pleasant trip. We recommend buying the deluxe tickets for twice the price of just a seat. It includes food and drinks and you are in a car that has a glass roof with an amazing view. We took... More

I was lucky to return to Anchorage before the gift shop closed for the season. I always enjoy picking up a new souvenir each trip, and this time is a Glow In The Dark t-shirt with a ARR engine on the front. When the train is at the depot, it is a bustling place, but if not trains are in,... More
