Hoover Dam is a must see if you go to Las Vegas. It is one of the great construction marvels of the 20th century. Considering this was built during the Depression, the level of engineering and hard manual labor involved is incredible. Now that there is a bypass highway, the road across the dam is a lot less crowded than... More

We went to the dam on a organised trip with a lake meal after cruise included. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the same were we experienced a fantastic short film on how the dam was made, we travel 50 stories down to the intake pipes, saw the turbines and learned how they work through a... This is a quick 30 minute drive from Las Vegas. Come and park in the free lots if there is space, otherwise you will face a $10 fee. We didn’t do a tour. We simply walked both sides of the dam and admired this engineering feat and the gorgeous river gorge and beautiful sky. Do not miss a visit here... More

The Hoover dam is an amazing feat of engineering. Our 7 and 8 year old kids really enjoyed the power plant tour. It begins with a 10 min video, which is really grainy and probably about 35 years old. It doesn't do justice to Hoover dam. It is high time for a new video to be commissioned, especially for what... More

I recommend to visit this place around October. Not crowded and perfect temperatura. If you have kids so take some old bread with you to feed fish.

This place gets overcrowded quick! The longer tour sells out very early and is not available for purchase online. The longer tour is worth the extra money. Security is typical for national monuments but insufficient for the crowds. The line to get in is ridiculous. My biggest complaint was that they rush groups through with little to no time for... We took the Hoover Dam Tour. Some tour guides were better than others. Joe was our tour guide and he was very knowledgable about the history and the workings of Hoover Dam. The views were great. We were really surprised to see the art deco decor inside the dam itself.

Even if you arrive and have to wait the extra hour...you will probably only visit once (maybe twice) in your lifetime... take the time & spend the little extra money & take the full Dam Tour. It's quite remarkable. Something you will never forget. If you enjoy history & nature & seeing how things work then THIS IS FOR YOU!... More
