Over 700 feet in height and responsible for generating electric power as well as a good deal of tourism, Hoover Dam is a must- see attraction. Straddling the Nevada/Arizona border, Hoover Dam is only about 30 miles east of Las Vegas and is a good place to visit as a Vegas side trip. I have been to Las Vegas many... More

If you are headed to Vegas, carve out some time to see the Hoover Dam! It is a quick (45 min) drive from the strip and is worth it. You can park for free on the AZ side (but you have to drive over the dam to get to that side, otherwise, you pay $10 for parking on the NV... More

It's amazing what men can do when they put their minds to it. Hoover dam is an incredible engineering marvel, especially considering the time it was built. A must see when visiting the Las Vegas area, and definitely make sure to do the full tour it is worth every penny!

Hoover Dam is fantastic. The story of how it was built and the tour are worth the time if you're in the area. It's hard to imagine the total size until you walk across the top. Don't miss the sculptures and information across from the visitor centre. Also keep an eye out for the art deco features. After you visit,... More

There is a good reason this historically-significant dam is most heavily visited after Thanksgiving - it's a must-see! We did a paid tour - the shorter dam tour (not the full one) so we could get access to parts of the dam we couldn't otherwise. Be careful - no food is allowed in the visitor's centre so make sure to... More

We parked at the parking structure and walked around the dam particularly the stretch from Nevada to Arizona. This was a good way to teach time zones. It was a crispy cold day but it was sunny so we had plenty of photo ops. Many visitors were there but there were plenty of open space for all. The water level... More

My wife and I drove from Phoenix to Vegas and stopped at Hoover Dam. This is a magnificent attraction. The history of how it was built and how it operates is amazing. Make sure to take one of the tours.

So many decades on the Hoover Dam is truly an impressive monument to mankind harnessing Mother Nature. The Art Deco design on various finish pieces is a tribute to art rising above economically harsh times.
