Our family began its relationship with Grand Coulee Dam by simply stopping one day on the way to Spokane. The facilities are top-notch, clean and spacious. And while you're waiting for the rest of crew, you can browse the many interactive displays concerning the history of dam, its construction as well as it's current operation. The staff is very friendly... More

We could only visit for a very short time (30 minutes), but it was worth even that short stay!! It would have been worth a good 30 minutes more and even longer if you had time for a picnic at the base of the dam! Loved the Woody Guthrie music and Roosevelt history.

Dam and the area around about what you would expect - it was tricky accessing the Visitor Centre (better signs needed) but worth the effort - it's not huge but there are plenty of interesting exhibits

We drove to Grand Coulee Dam from Coeur D'Alene. It was a pretty drive. Dam's visitor center offered lots of interesting information. And there is a nice park below for picture taking or picnicing. We chose not to take the tour. There is nothing much else there for a town or other things to see.

Night light show a bit dated but free and museum/visitors centre next to. Fun fact I took away from visit: the amount of concrete used in the dams construction is enough to build a concrete sidewalk around the earth! Lovely drive there, amazing landscape

This is amazing!! Take the FREE tour. It will take you over the Dam and walk on top. There is a FREE Laser Nite Show every day on the water. It is 35 min. long. Visitors Ctr. is fantastic with many shows daily. Worth the stop!!!

The tour of Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia River is very educational. The dam was originally built in the 1930's. The Dam was originally charged to be a source of water for irrigating the desert in central Washington. However with the advent of WW-II, the sole purpose of the dam was converted to be a hydro-electric facility to provide... More

Grand Coulee Dam is an important and vital project in the Pacific Northwest. Everyone should take the opportunity to stop at the visitor center to learn about the history of the dam, and stay for the evening laser light show that's projected onto the face of the dam.

This is the largest dam in the nation and vital to region. Generates equivelant electricity as 5 nuclear plants and 30 coal burning plants. Siphons 2% of Columbia river water for region irrigation of which half is reclaimed. Nice laser show and interesting tour.

We stopped in later one night to stretch and discovered that the museum part is open late with a laser show at 8:30 PM. The museum/information part is totally hands on and the kids were happy happy happy!! It was very informational which the adults enjoyed and the kids loved touching, pulling, pushing, turning absolutely everything!! It was very enjoyable... More
