A different concept for a museum...photo essay thru time of life in Iceland. Interesting but the "behind the scenes" displays did not have any relevance to the pictures so it seemed disjointed. It was a very small display for the cost. Go if you are...More

An enthusiastic welcome and an interesting look into Icelandic life. Amazing how similar they are to my old family photos (England). Birds and mirrors make a visually spectacular display.

This museum has two parts, one about the how arrived the Vikings and other about the normal life. The price is so expensive only for seeing a montage that speaks about of the sagas of Vikings.

We would appreciate if the author could remove that comment from our profile as it has been listed at the wrong location, it is meant for The Settlement Center in Borgarnes Iceland, not the Borgarnes Museum. Best regards and thanks.

So glad we popped into this museum/library before leaving Borgarnes. There was an exhibition of photos upstairs taken during 2016. A beautiful variety of scenes from the town and a good contrast to what followed. Downstairs there is a display of photos of Icelandic children...More

Came here after reading about it online. Extremely friendly staff who will take you into the exhibit and give you an introduction. I love photographs and this display was 100 years of photos of children. It's extremely well done and there are also hidden displays...More

For those with an interest in early Icelandic history, the Settlement Center is well worth a day trip from Reykjavik or a stop on a tour of the Snaefellsnes Pennsula. Located in an attractive harbor town, the Center consists of two exhibitions, each of which...More

This was a very moving and eye opening exhibition, and most beautifully executed. The woman who was in charge and gave us an introduction to the museum was an absolute treasure - thank you for your knowledge and enthusiasm! Highly reccommended

This was an incredible exhibit! The attendant was so passionate about the exhibits and was the most gracious hostess. The exhibit is lovely, well laid out, and fascinating. The bird exhibit was especially amazing! Such a treat!
