We broke the drive from Reykjavik to Snaefellsnes with a lunch stop in Borgarnes. It's a pretty coastal town with a lovely walking track around the township. It's a very pretty drive over the bridge into the community. Staff at the information centre were helpful and the attached cafe and Settlement Centre are worth a visit. Perhaps the best part was the little church just out of town with a outlook behind it with a stunning view over the town.

The lady has been extremely helpful on sharing local information. All the checkings and arrangement can be done via the centre just 10mins, which is awesome.
The Dutch lady was so kind to advise on the weather as well so to get us the best experience. Awesome information centre!

In the age of smartphones and computers it is still nice to stop at an information centre that is staffed by friendly, kowledgeable people who can supply first hand descriptions of things along with maps and brochures.

Rose was delightful and helpful to us in planning our visit to the area. We were especially interested in hiking and distances of the drives and hikes. She pointed out interesting ways to add a bit to the trip, such as a second waterfall and short add on the hike, should we find the time and interest in doing so. She pointed out highlights and routes on several maps and gave the maps to us. She took the time to find out what specific points may have an appeal to us and then built in a plan around it. She was charming and I would highly recommend a stop in.

It was not open when visited but the maps and other data were outside the locked doors so we achieved our objective.Perhaps it should be open when tourists are around as this was early afternoon.

the staff is more then villing to help what to see and also booked accomodation for you.

The staff here are very good at pointing out interesting places, even those that are not on the typical tourist map. I was thrilled even as a local with the information I got as I wanted to see a certain waterfall not on the map and they found out promptly how to get there by car and short hiking.
