grab your picnic basket or stop by a local Subway for sandwiches and throw your blanket on the ground for a relaxing evening of music and wonderful summer time sky.

Beauty for the eyes and ears! The Park District hosts various events throughout the year. If you are able, do the tour! Park is very pet-friendly.

I love the sound of the Carillon. It's great to sit on a park bench and listen to it. And if you get a chance to take the tour, please do! It's quite unusual, and they might even let you pound one of the notes!

We heard the carillon and went on the tour. It was expensive and cramped, but fun seeing the huge bells and looking out on Springfield and the Capitol.

The festival is a nice way to spend an evening and it's interesting to hear this played for the public. I enjoyed my visit and I'd go back again.

If you are lucky enough to hear the carillon, you are lucky enough! The carillon festival is a great opportunity to hear the sounds of different people from all over the world who are experts in playing! A great family event. Sometimes at lunch we can catch a beautiful song and what a treat! Washington Park is the most beautiful... More

We visited on Easter Sunday in March so we could not go inside but would love to return as several people told us it is a great experience. We were the only people standing in the rain listening to the music, it was still beautiful.

You can go to the top of the Carillon and look around the city. The bells are enormous! Very cool to see how it is played. I love going to listen to the bells at their concerts.

Can't find a better place in June for a picnic in the park during the Carillion Festival. Reminds me of Tanglewood, on a smaller, more family friendly scale. We live here and used to go every summer -- when it was easy to get up off the ground! Highly recommended
