I booked a week in Iceland as a surprise trip for my wife's birthday and booked three days with Midgard to see volcanoes and other Icelandic iconic scenes. Our guide, Olafur (Oli) was fantastic, so knowledgable about Iceland, its volcanoes, it's history and folklore. We had lots of laughs and saw lots of great sights, Oli was particularly good at... We spent an amazing day at the foot of Eyjafjallajokull volcano in a monster jeep with Helga. The weather was typically wet but Helga's knowledge of the area together with monster jeep transportation made sure we got to the base of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. We loved listening to the Sagas told by Helga and her knowledge of 2010 eruption brought... More

Oli picked us up at our hotel in a monster jeep called Thor.We had the most amazing day off road, and saw sites that we could never have hoped to see. We spent a lot of time on river beds (dry or flooding - it didn't seem to matter!). We saw glaciers, volcanoes, arctic foxes, the list is almost endless.... More

We took two incredible day trips and each one was so incredible and so different as Midgard showcases what an amazing country Iceland is. We really went where no one has been. More than just No tourist buses. No other people besides you and your guide! You're seeing part of the world seen by very few other people. But perhaps... More

This company got glowing reviews which why we spent a large amount of money to go with them. However the sites seen were not worth what we spent. True many were only reachable by their off road vehicles. The weather was very poor but we were dressed for it and were willing to spend the time outdoors. We kept waiting... More

Management response:

Dear Marcy This is Bergrun your guide. I am really sorry to hear that you did not like the tour. Given the poor weather at the places we often visit on Midgard Surprise tour I decided to take you to different locations to make the most out of the day but that was clearly a mistake. What I could have... More

Olafur Por Kristinsson was a wonderful guide today. He took us everywhere we wanted to go that only a professional guide could get you to, the Black beach, Porsmork, Eyjafjallajokull, Trolls valley. Nothing was too much trouble. Had a nice lunch at the Volcano Huts and saw 3 arctic foxes. Thoroughly enjoyed our conversations about Iceland and loved exchanging our... More

We were a little skeptical a to what to expect for this tour but our all-day Surprise tour was the highlight of our trip to Iceland. Our guide, Bjarni was terrific and took us to several destinations in Þórsmörk including to the top of Eyjafjallajökull - the volcano that exploded in 2010.

Booked the private Jokulsarlon/Glacier Lagoon tour with pick up/drop off from Hotel Ranga. Helga our tour guide was very informative on Icelandic history and facts along the 3-4hr drive from Ranga to the glacier and then back again. She would stop off at any points we asked for pictures and answered all of our questions. We took a boxed lunch... More

For my last day in March I had been searching pretty much everywhere for a tour to Þórsmörk. Eventually Trek Iceland recommended Midgard Adventure and they told me there was a good chance that the surprise tour that day could end up going to Þórsmörk. I booked a rental car to drive to Hvolsvöllur and was lucky enough with the... More

My husband and I travelled with Midgard Adventure in 2015. I had always meant to write a review and in sharing Iceland advice with a friend, realized I was overdue to review them! I can't say enough good things about my guide Begga, her professionalism, friendliness and the wonderful day we spent with her. We saw beautiful sights we never... More
