Description:

Discover the rich collections of the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M....

Discover the rich collections of the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and Arthur M. Sackler Museums, newly united in a state-of-the-art facility designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The renovation and expansion of the museums' landmark building on the Harvard University campus provides new spaces for research, teaching, and learning. During your visit, explore the expanded Collections Galleries featuring works from the ancient world to the present, and from the Americas, Europe, North Africa, the Mediterranean, and Asia. The University Galleries are programmed in consultation with Harvard faculty to support their coursework and are also a site for curatorial experimentation. The Special Exhibitions Gallery presents important new research on artists and artistic practice. The revitalized Calderwood Courtyard offers dramatic views within the building, as well as access to the museums' new amenities. Find a keepsake in the shop and enjoy a snack at Jenny's Cafe. Visit the Lightbox Gallery at the building's summit to use technology to explore the collections in new and imaginative ways. There you can also view work taking place in the labs of the Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies. Attend a lecture or film, or make an appointment to visit the Art Study Center for a closer look at original works of art not currently on view in the galleries.

Beautifully presented galleries. Super assembly of 20th century European art. Very beautiful medieval art collection. Spacious, not crowded (much quieter than the bustling MFA in Boston). Architectural interest too in the newly designed atrium.

It took me years to get here--three museums were forged into one several years ago which enlarged wall space for their 250,000 items many collected from Harvard graduates over the years (centuries) including many of their collections. The collections cover most of the history of years beautifully shown.

We were walking around the campus of Harvard University and decided to go visit the Art Museum. It was only 15$ each, 10$ for students. Beautiful collection and Beautiful building too.

We recently visited the Fogg Museum at Harvard. It was clean and inviting on a cold quiet Saturday morning. We wandered through the wonderful medieval art collection, mostly alone. It felt so luxurious to view these gems in such a quiet solitary way.

Was surprised at how wonderful the Impressionism collection was as well as the modern art collection. The museum has a great layout and the added benefit of a coffee shop in the main lobby. I would highly recommend going to this museum if you're on campus!

Surprised by how much different art is displayed. Spent a lot more time on this visit than I planned. Great café, but lots of competition for seating with students.

A very interesting combination of old and new architecture, and art from many eras. It's great to have it all in one place now.

Free lockers to leave your coat and bag. Elevator and stairway access around a large light indoor courtyard. Combines collections of three formerly separate Harvard museums. We enjoyed the Impressionists, Raphaelites, medieval art, Japanese scrolls and screens, important pieces by Bottecelli, Rembrandt, Whistler, Sargeant, van Gogh, Klimt, and Picasso. Somewhat eclectic collection because most of it is donated or loaned... More

A well designed space - a phenomenal and eclectic collection -- only gripe is that there excellent descriptions should be a little larger -- take the Harvard stop on the red line -- well worth it.

A snowstorm prevented us from driving out to our planned concert venue, so we walked over to the museum instead and settled in for a cosy afternoon amid the art. This visit I can attest to the excellent accommodations in the basement for all of your wet and dripping coats, scarves, bags, etc. More importantly, the permanent collection never fails... More
