The library meets all your typical expectations, but goes far beyond. I'm very impressed by the helpful energy offered to children and teens afternoons and evenings. Special features include the stained glass depictions of the Civil War and memorial to locals who served. Also, there is a genealogy section to research ancestry within the local area during colonial times.

This is a lovely library in a very old, historic building. The woodwork is wonderful. I love how they have kept it up. They have kept adding features to keep this library up with the times, like the computers they made available. The old stacks are available, and this is the treat for someone who loves books.

A beautiful old library that has been well preserved and up dated. The building outside alone is worthy to photograph.

This library is in a late 19th century stone building, and it is worth a tour even if you are not looking for books. The upstairs halls are splendid, like being in a museum.

It is more than a Library - there is some of Lowell's history in this place as well. You can read The Lowell Offering which was the literary magazine started by the mill girls in the early days of Lowell. It has been around and helped the various immigrant groups assimilate for over 100 years. Michael Dukakis' father came to... More

I go to the library every two weeks to rent audio tape books. We travel quite a bit between Maine and Lowell and it's great to listen to a book in the car. Sometimes I need to sit in the driveway to finish a good book!

This library is worth a visit just for the building. Check out the woodwork and the huge paintings on the Mezzanine. It is a well stocked library. Besides books in English they have significant collections in the languages of recent immigrants to the city. There are also many DVD's. The periodical section is adequate. The furnishings are a bit well... More

Its a classic library that caters to its core constituency. The librarians in the check out area are very nice, but mostly I love to look at the stained glass and the murals in the reference area.
