Such a nice area! Consignment shops are great and the diners are amazing. Cupcakes, tattoos, antiques and even retail.

Great collection of eclectic shops from neat consignment shops to pricier fare. It's got something for everyone--from bicycle shops, card shops, ethical shopping shops (that sell items made by poor people around the world who are getting paid a reasonable price), to tatoo salons, a great Thai restaurant, hippie vintage clothing shops, several great ice cream shops and butchers, costume... Full of warm hearted shops and charm. Great stroll to pop in and out of shops, bars and bakeries and keep the whole family happy. There is something for everyone on this street from vintage clothing shops, unique world crafts, hipster music and smoke shops, second hand stores, home furnishings, food of all kinds and more. Great people watching and... More

Carytown is a nice strip of stores and restaurants that are fun to explore on a nice day. Parking can be a bit difficult but there are plenty of side streets with more parking or a parking lot next to the grocery stores as well as near Can Can restaurant. There is greek, Thai, Chinese, sushi, american, and Mexican food... More

Have been in bookstores all over the world for 5 decades. This is a really nice one. Well laid out, helpful and friendly staff, Great selection and prices. Love the rooms and the light and general ambiance. Will definitely go back when next in RIchmond. Suggested friends go also and they too got some great books this visit.

Was in Richmond for the Thanksgiving weekend and we wanted to get out and see some things, we chose Carytown.. Busy downtown street with shops and restaurants for about a half mile. I wouldn't say it's a must see and you're going to have the time of your life but if you want to walk around have a bite to... More

Trendy shopping area with good restaurants and specialty shops. There are three bicycle shops within fifty feet of each other. So, if you are into cycling, be sure to check out Carytown. There are good design and fashion shops. The neighborhood around Carytown is great for a drive to check out the row houses and miniature antebellum style architecture. This... More

Great street to find a restaurant and shops. It's a one way so go down Main Street and then head back down Cary Street. Lots of free parking on the street and in lots. We ate at a really nice Thai Restaurant. A fun way to spend an afternoon if you're downtown.

If you're fortunate enough to pick a day with good weather, this is a great place to stroll through a large number of botique shops that will fit a wide variety of budget concerns. There is a good variety of restaurants and coffee shops to to wet your appetite serving a broad mixture of culinary offering at reasonable prices. A... More
