i remember the guy (haigh jamgosian) swinging the sledge hammer. strange and imaginative fella. it was like seeing an alien back then when the building was completed. right next to it was the "paper clip" building. when the markels originally built this, it was exotic and unique. being "in the round" with parking underneath, it was an interesting place to... I barely remember this building, but I should. One of the things that people notice about this office is not how much it resembles the Guggenheim Museum but the materials covering it. But for me, that's no surprise. My father worked for years making aluminum foil for Reynolds Metals. Their headquarters was further down Broad street. Another piece of local... More

Interesting office building ,very unusual ,looks as if it's wrapped in aluminum foil. The story of it's constrution is depicted in photos in the lobby. It is nice to have some office buildings that are different from the typical styles,

Get this, the design was inspired by a baked potatoe he had while attending an American Institute of Architect's dinner. Each floor consists of a 555 foot sheet of aluminum sledge hammered into its current form. And yes, it was... More

Designed at the height of the modern architecture movement, it is now a classic. It shines in the sun too.

This building is a rare built work by a highly experimental and intellectually gifted architect, Haig Jamgochian. While its surroundings are underwhelming, the structure itself is inventive, interesting, and beautiful. the distinct materiality, massing, light play on the facade is wondrous. The facade texture was created by sledge hammering the world's longest strips of aluminium siding by hand. The top... More

This has got to be one of the coolest buildings I have had the pleasure of visiting. The inside of the building is as cool as the outside. It is a landmark that I will not soon forget. If you are in the area you must drive by. It is well worth your time.
