The exhibit really tells the entire story of the Civil War including what leads up to it and the aftermath, In that its very well done, and it uses rare artifacts to help tell that story. But, at some point it had a strong whiff...More

I took my grandson, who is 7 years old. He is interested in history; he was able to read the information and he was motivated to complete the readings with an opportunity to earn a Junior Ranger badge. It has an association with National Parks,...More

The complaints are full of it. Visiting a place like this is more about the landmark than just lighting and signs, it's about being in a significant place. Both museums are great and help you get a feel for what it must have been like...More

Traveling from Arizona, we were very excited and made a point of visiting this museum. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The exhibits look half done, are extremely dark, descriptions are hard to read and the content is not worth the effort. I've heard this museum...More

I don't think it is entirely clear that this is a private museum, not part of the NPS site. That said, it is well worth it to go through the museum. Take the tour...it was the best part.

Great place to learn all about the Civil War. Give yourself plenty of time because there is a lot to cover on several floors.

Being from the UK, we did not know much about the American Civil War. We found the museum to be very well presented, very informative and certainly reflects today’s views on the place that African Americans played in the background to the war and their...More

It was interesting to go to a Civil War exhibit in the former capital of the CSA. In this era of elevated awareness of racism, it was good to re-visit history and the points of view that led to an internal conflict. The museum is...More
