The Canal Walk could be really nice, but it isn't. I was hoping it would be like the river walk in San Antonio, but not even close. Yes, the canal is about the same but there are no shops or restaurants or anything along it....More

I was exploring near by hotel, The Berkley, within two blocks I was at the restored locks and then was able to walk in both directions for well over 1.5 hours of casual walking. It was easy and low impact, there is plenty to see,...More

Great small-spot scenic vibe for a quick jaunt after lunch. Its a very relaxing atmosphere while in the heart of downtown Richmond

This was a nice walk we spent about an hour doing. The best part was a pedestrian bridge you can take across the James River that has some Civil War history information along the route. Parking was a bit tricky but well worth the hassle.

We walked the canal on the way to Tregador. This was a very pleasant walk along the water, and we were able to access it close to our hotel.

An amazing piece of US history! You can really feel the sense of a young, struggling USA along this canal walk. It leads to the bridge that the Confederates destroyed as they surrendered Richmond. Fast forward to now, there is an outdoor "museum" of graffiti...More

Civil war info abounds. The guides are very knowledgeable ,the boat tours are worth the price. Who knew the importance and genious that George Washington had on Virginia and the Canals . A must see and visit on your visit.
