Richmond has a love affair with art and it's in no small part due to the approachable community experiences regularly offered up at our Fine Arts museum. Besides the free admission to the general collections all year long, the reasonable cost of the traveling exhibits...More

If you love art, don't miss the VMFA -- and best of all -- it's free! (There could be fees for special exhibits.) They have a great American art collection and a wonderful contemporary collection too. If not into the contemporary stuff, don't worry --...More

This museum had so many different styles of art to look at I'm sure everyone visiting would find something they enjoy. And it's free!! Can't beat that. The Faberge display is out of this world. We loved our entire visit.

This very impressive museum has free admission. It also charged no extra admission for the expansive exhibit of Faberge art objects made in imperial Russia for the last Romanov czars and their court. The coffee shop is very nice and the gift shop is expansive....More

Visited the museum to take in the latest exhibit - the Chinese Army Terra-cotta Sculptures. Was well done, and made good use of the space at the base of the museum. There are also plenty of permanent exhibits to check out on the main floors.

Not sure about the open time. It should be posted on the web site. We had tickets during the week when they were not busy and they allowed us to go in early.

We were able to enter the exhibit 30 minutes before our set time so I doubt I would be a problem.

I would give it at least an hour. If you have a particular interest in the other items, such as the gold and other jewelry, household furnishing, etc., plan on longer.
