Visited Richmond this week; Shockoe Slip is not as I remembered it. It still has a number of good restaurants and I do recommend those. Worth a bit of time and a walk.

I was on a mother-daughter weekend. Our hotel recommended for us to visit the Shockoe Bottom area for an evening of good food and fun and I was glad we went there. It was great to walk around and check out the sites & people watch. We stopped at a few places for drinks and then ate at Bottoms Up Pizza which was awesome. We had a very nice evening and would go back next time I'm in Richmond.

Streets are narrow traffic heavy. The old factories with their washed out bill boards make a great urban look. Restaurants and different shops make you want to pull over and walk a few blocks.

Enjoyed walking around--limited interest, but cool for what it is: an area being gentrified and trying to build on its history.

Cobblestone streets, old industrial building, tobacco industry structure and warehouses no longer in use.
A great architectural rehabilitation already happened but there is still room for more improvement. Great potential!

We stayed in the Residence Inn in Shock Slip and so many things were in walking distance including Tredegar Iron Works, Hollywood Cemetery, the VA capital building, the canal boat ride, and Belle Isle. We loved it! The cobble stone streets are amazing all on their own.

This area is undergoing gentrification and the addition of new restaurants. Looks like it can evolve into a date night and after work destination. There are many empty spaces that may fill up to fulfill this goal.

went back to Shockoe Slip after being away for 10 years-went to VCU back in the day-and most of the cute little spots were closed. made me sad to say the least.

If you want to go on a date and you do not have a plan or a place to go you can always make a great night by heading down to Shockoe Slip. There are so many bars and restaurants that you really do not need reservations unless its a special holiday like Christmas or Valentines day. Go bar hopping and make new friends!

Nice restaurant district with historic buildings and cobblestone streets. Only a few blocks from Capitol. Nice Irish bar, newish Mexican restaurant (Mijas) that had excellent Queso Fundido, and the Tobacco Warehouse with a great atrium. Only a few blocks to canal walk, so easy to walk to Shocktoe from Belle Island.
