We were thrilled to have a booking at Vigilius Mountain Resort and still everything we experienced exceeded our expectations! The hotel itself, our room, the spa, the restaurants, service - everything was outstanding. It is the perfect place to relax from sressful daily life, to calm down and get back to oneself. Weundertook a specacular hiking tour. Afterwards we enjoyed the quietness of the surrounding nature on the rooftop terrasse of the spa.

This fast and efficient cable car whisks you half way up the Vigiljoch where you can catch the equally good chairlift to the top. Once at the top there are numerous paths to explore and the leaflet provided gives suggestions for several circular walks. There are several restaurants, a photogenic church and a small lake to visit. We had a wonderful time and the views were amazing.

On a beautiful February Sunday, we bought a combined cable car-chairlift return ticket, but we used the chairlift only for the downward journey. Arriving at the cable car top station, we walked the no. 34 path, then the no. 3 one, that by a gentle ascent led us finally to the site where the church of San Vigilio / St. Vigilius stands. These paths sometimes allow beautiful views on the mountains flanking the underlying Val d'Ultimo / Ultental. Upon our arrival at the church, it was time for the lunch, which we consumed at the nearby Gasthof Jocher. After lunch, we followed the no. 9 trail, featuring an equally gentle downhill, which through beautiful snow-covered meadows and surrounding woods led us up to the Schwarze Lacke (Black Puddle). It was completely frozen, and we tried the thrill of walking on it. Meanwhile, the nearby Gasthaus Seespitz was packed with customers who were enjoying the sun at the outdoor tables. Undertaking the way back, we avoided the no. 6 trail, because we were afraid that it was not well maintained, and we preferred to return to the San Vigilio church, and from there, across the no. 4 path, to the chairlift upper station. But before the descent, we had a short detour to the lookout point (Aussichtpunkt) which allows a sweeping view over the underlying Adige valley, from Merano to Bolzano almost, and beyond, to the snowy Dolomites, from the Sella Gruppe up to the Rosengarten. Alla the paths we walked were well signposted; we just had to be careful about frozen snow here and there. Overall, it was a wonderful day, which we recommend to anyone. Last note: the excursion is done very well also without a car, riding to Lana by no. 211 bus from Merano, quite frequent even on Sundays and on public holidays.

We have been in Merano and were suggested to go to the mountain "Vigil Joch". We took the funicular "Vigiljoch Bahn" from Lana. Great: in only 7 minutes you are from the town on the mountain, perfect! Nice view and nice employees, and, very comfortable/fast!

If you are at Garda Lake with your car just drive to the top or near the top of Monte Baldo. If the end of the queue to use the Funivia is outside the building, you're going to wait almost 2 hours to start the journey up the mountain. Then you'll have to wait again at the middle station. We spent a good part of the day waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. And the view from the top is not actually worth the wait. The hiking trails are gravelly and overrun with tourists. Maybe I'd come here again, but I certainly wouldn't pay to do it.
