The hatchery was a very pleasant surprise on a recent road trip up HWY 395. You could take a picture in front of it and convince people you were in Switzerland or somewhere like that. Staff was friendly and helpful and everything was free! Great,...More

A very interesting historical site in the middle of pretty much nowhere. However, the grounds and the building itself are incredible. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, but the visit was worthwhile.

Driving along the 395 south of Big Pine, past the lovely but somewhat monotonous brown brush and rock formations along the Mount Whitney range, you might see a small building tower in the distance, peaking up behind a few trees. Or not. Maybe you will...More

It's a perfect place to stop and take a break from driving hwy 395! It's neat to see what they do and see the difference they've been making with their hatchery in the surrounding fishing spots!! Nice spot for a little picnic too!

It is more a place to wander outside now than a hatchery. The grounds would be great to have a wedding - totally beautiful. We enjoyed our picnic lunch here.
