Located in the heart of the downtown, Underground Atlanta is one of the city’s favorite attractions and a cultural hub. Opened in 1969 as a “city beneath the streets,” Underground Atlanta still exhibits many of the significant architectural features from its original structure. Visitors can pick up a self-guided History tour brochure at the information booth and discover the history firsthand. Explore six city blocks, 12 acres and three levels of 225,000 square feet of shopping, restaurants and entertainment at Underground Atlanta, a destination with more than 100 years of history.

Don't trust the website, it's very outdated (including parking rates). The place claims to be scheduled for reconstruction this year, but in the meantime it's mostly vacant, dark, dirty, and smells like urine. The only thing left is some fast food and low end chain...More

I had been to the underground over 20 years ago and remember it being nice with things to do and places to eat. It is currently desolate with a couple of shops. There were signs saying it was under reconstruction. I hope this is true....More

I visited underground Atlanta about 25 years ago while visiting family and it was interesting and I don't remember feeling unsafe. Made the horrible mistake of taking my teen daughter this past Sunday. This large area of Atlanta is the poster child for urban decay....More

I wanted to do some quick shopping on a convention break and this place came up on Google maps. The walk there was terrible and sketchy and when I got there everything was closed and there was hardly any choice. A complete waste of time.

Gone are the days of visiting Atlanta as a tourist and taking pictures in front of the Underground signage. The bushes are overgrown outside and the place smells of urine...likely the result of the homeless wandering around the place. Despite the lack of stores, there...More
