This extraordinary zoo, one of the oldest in the U.S., underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in the 1980s and is still expanding. Its landscaping replicates the natural habitats of the numerous animals, some of which are endangered species. Four panda bears from China delight the crowds, and groups of gorillas separated by moats do their own share of entertaining.

This zoo is quite small and can be completed in around three hours. That was a little disappointing. But hey, all the animals were awake when we visited, so that's one good thing. The Sumatran tiger is housed in such a small area. That is really not an indication of a good zoo. Agreed that this zoo cannot be expanded... More

We arrived 15 minutes after the zoo opened and the lot was full. We had two children in strollers and one wheelchair. As we circled the small lot a couple of times, I counted 5 cars parked in two spaces. When we finally made it to the entrance, there was a huge line. I spoke to a zoo official about... More

We were a little surprised that such a big city had such a small zoo. On the other hand, it was really nice with high quality exhibits. It's one of only four US zoos that house pandas. They had a family of four that were really fun to see. The surrounding neighborhood is very safe, so do not hesitate to... More

only really worthwhile exhibit was the panda cubs. for the price of admission it was very expensive for such a small zoo. heard the ticket price was in direct relation to supporting the pandas. fyi - there are only 4 places in the USA to see a panda, so guess they can charge a premium.

We took a cab to the zoo and right away, we loved it. We went late in the afternoon, so we weren't able to see all the sites, but what we saw was amazing. The elephants were a big surprise. Lots of animals to see. Even road the train. Little ones seemed to really enjoy the water fountains. We would... More

When we arrived at the Zoo, the parking lot was full. We were patient and waited for a spot. Entering the ticket gate was quick. The kids and adults enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the exhibits. I purchased a season pass and plan to make it back several times this year.

The parking situation is ridiculous. It took us a half an hour to find a parking space. The layout is so confusing to out-of-towners, we walked past so many confused people asking park staff where exhibits were and things like where the exit was, which is not clear and you can easily walk in circles. Interactive displays were filthy and... More

The Atlanta Zoo is in the south east section of Atlanta, a park in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There is a longer drive in that leads to parking for several hundred cars (with no charge for parking). Tickets can be purchased in advance online (at least a $3 discount) and there are some other discount options available (free... More

The parking is difficult. Do your homework about the parking situation. We followed our GPS which took us to a parking lot in Grant Park, a distance from the Zoo.There's a lot right beside the Zoo. Not all exhibits were open, the trash cans were overflowing and staff is minimal. The baby Pandas were cute and you can feed at... More

Awesome zoo. Spread out with lots of trees and shade for a warm day. Lots of different animals that you don't see at every zoo. Giant pandas are the best especially when you get to see the babies. !!
