This sanctuary became a spiritual haven for civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. On the self-guided audio tour, King's inspirational sermons will take visitors back in time, while the new Horizon Sanctuary across the street is home to the present day congregation, highlighted by its traditional tabernacle choir.

We learned about the history of Ebenezer Baptist Church and its relation with Martin Luther King. We sing together about the freedom song of Black People of United States, and pray.

This was a great location to visit in Atlanta. I only had a few hours to see as much as possible and I´m glad that I visited this church. The parks staff are great and very knowledgeable.

were both he and his father were preaching. Sit still in the back to the sixties (nothing has changed. since the renovation everything was put back as if it was 1965) and listen to the voice of MLK. After you visit the legendary church, please visit the rest of the NP: museum, house of birth and the graves of MLK... More

When you visit be sure to talk to the Parks & Rec's team, they are so knowlegeable about the place, the neighborhood and the overall climate of the country at that time. It's definitely worth the trip.

Beautiful and simply designed, Ebenezer holds the space for some remarkable history. The acoustics are good and so are the views from the balcony.

This is well worth a visit. This is the church where Dr. King was baptized, and both he and his father were pastors for many years. It is located very close to the Martin Luther King Memorial Site.

The church is Park Service, done with their usual high quality. A moving, well informed visit with no schmaltz. But then we walked down Auburn St. To MLK's house (not far) and beyond in this fascinating historical neighborhood well marked by panels.
