This cemetery is not only interesting but historic and beautiful. We walked through part of it while waiting for restaurant to open across the street. Plots for the entire family are interesting. They have guided tours or you can download an app with info. This...More

It's really not your typical cemetery. Book a history tour. Margaret Mitchell and Mayner Jackson are buried here. There are also different sections of different graves here as well as a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline.

Oakland Cemetery is a beautiful, tranquil place to spend a couple of hours, meandering through the tombstones and landscapes. The cemetery is beautifully maintained, with paved drives and brick walkways traversing incredibly diverse monuments. There is a large section containing confederate soldier memorials, and many...More

This is a wonderful historic cemetery with beautiful architecture, sculptures, and large oak trees. It's a very quiet and peaceful place even though it's 5 blocks from downtown Atlanta. It was founded in 1850. Some of the brick walkways are uneven with broken bricks so...More

I've never seen a cemetery this nice or detailed. Fast and Furious 7 was recently filmed here. Wish we got to spend more time here as there is a lot of history in this cemetery as well as the people buried here.

I love to take out-of-town guests to this place. There are Civil War graves, a Jewish section and we enjoy walking among the old oak trees and imagining what life would have been like through the years. The grave stone markers are beautiful and it...More

I actually found the grounds to be very uneven so I recommend sneakers, but if you stay on just the paved areas, then sandals.
