I hiked this trail just before sunset and it was amazing. Great views as the sun moved over the mesa. There were still some vivid colors in October and the trail is only about 2 miles total and easy for adults and kids. It is accessed at the north end of the Morefield Campground.

This trail is on the original road that was built to access Mesa Verde-that's something to consider as you hike along! There is a great nature guide that talks about the various plants along the way. The view of Montezuma Valley and Ute Mountain is amazing. This would be a great hike to do at sunset.

We loved this 2 mile hike. The views are marvelous. This is a trail all ages can walk. The parking at the trailhead is plentiful and paved. Easy to find in the Campground.

You can hike Knife's edge from the campground. From the auto tour it is a sort walk to a spectacular view. It is worth the stop.

This is only a 2.2 trail with little to no incline. Just a perfect and quiet trail to experience the beauty of the park in a very intimate way.

This is a nice easy trail located just of the campground in Mesa Verde. It is about 1 mile each way and the trail is flat. There are beautiful views at the end. My 9 year old son and I hiked out and back in about an hour with a few stops for pictures. There was only 1 other person... More

This nature trail takes you out for some nice views of Cortez down in the valley below. You'll see the old road bed alignment and marvel that this is how early visitors to the park came in--there's a reason they called it the Knife Edge Road (search for pictures on the internet or www.nps.gov/meve). Guide booklets available to help you... More

We did a bird walk with a ranger. She was a bit scattered, but quite knowledgeable. There were cougar tracks on the trail which had been circled, making them easy to locate and study. We also saw a bald eagle, which made my husband's day. This trail is flat and easy.

It is hard to imagine that this used to be the road into the park Very disappointed in the grafitti on the rocks at the end. When will people realize that we are not impressed by their ignorance. It is also a felony to deface federal land. Too bad they can't be caught.

this hike is very easy. You do not see any cliff dwellings in this area--it starts in the camping area.
