Small village just oriented to tourists. Just arrive in car, you must pay a fee for the parking, it doesn't matter how much time you'll spend in the town. Yes, streets are nice, stone buildings, medieval wall an d so on, but that's all. Everything is closed like the church, of course with the exception of the restaurants and the souvenir shops, you can find a lot, I would say the highest rate of restaurants per square meter in a Catalonian town. It was fun, at 19:15, impossible to find any restaurant to serve just a couple of beers and cokes (we were 4 people), they just wanted to serve dinners to tourists, fun because the covid, practically no tourists at all visiting the village. Very deceiving, a waste of time visiting it, better to visit another town like Castell d'Aro or Santa Cristina d'Aro

First time visit and we were directed to a pay car park. It was the only place you could park at. Was 8.30pm. Pay machines in the car park had no details of the times. As was late in the evening, we thought we didn't have to pay. Normally in Spain it's free after 8pm. Returned to car at 9.30pm to find a fine on our window. The warden was still there. We remonstrated that there was no signage regarding the hours in which you needed to pay. He was very rude and said that you needed to pay up to 10.30pm. He said the local council had made it like this some years ago as if we should have known. I told him.it was our first visit there, to which he just laughed and said it was a nice present to receive on our first visit. Won't be returning. What a scam. Village is nice and worth a look but I'd say many people get caught with parking fines.

This is an exquisite little medieval town where I felt l had stepped back in time. Narrow alleys leading to bright squares, flowers tumbling out of walls, bumpy and uneven cobbled streets...Peratallada has it all. There are some beautiful shops, cafés and restaurants here too. Climb the clock tower near the castle free of charge to enjoy the views over the town and to see as far as the sea and the Medes islands. Peratallada captured my heart.

Being on holiday in Costa Brava, we were advised to visit the village of Petratalada.
Certainly nice village but the visit was ruined as soon as we arrived because of the municipal agent who draws everything.
Barely left the vehicle to look for the parking meter quvil popped out of a grove to ticket and show us the fine of 10 € to pay.
By showing him that tourists should have time to go to the parking meter, he did not want to know anything.
Beautiful mentality and superb reception of guests

I was very pleasantly surprised.
Very well-kept town with dream corners.
Free climb to the bell tower and spectacular views.
Town without a hill
A very pleasant discovery.
Members of the City Council: Is it necessary that all the negative and disastrous opinions come from the parking and the restaurants? You can review this topic:
- Visitors complain about overcrowding. It is clear that wherever you are or go by car or bus, it is very easy to control the capacity.
- IMPORTANT: since they make you pay for it to be agile, operational and you will not have as many complaints from the parking controllers. Understand that if you read the opinions they are not complaining about paying but about the BAD FUNCTIONING!!!! of both the machines and the staff. I think it is not that difficult for them to work well.
- RESTORATION: gentlemen, put in restoration professionals.

Nice visit but deserted village
Closed shops
I really preferred the village of Pals.
Parking is free.
The tour of the village is fast. In 30 minutes the tour is made take the first half hour free at the parking.

The village is lovely, but the enthusiasm disappeared because of the officers who check the parking va payment. as soon as we arrived we saw that the officers photographed the parked cars, without understanding why. we paid for three hours the parking, and when we arrived it was only 10 minutes past due but we found the fine of 50 €! It was not understandable how to cancel this fine, an agent arrived instantly and showed us how to cancel it by paying only 10 €. I point out that it was 16 and the temperature was 41 °! It's such a scam, and they want to take advantage of the tourists....

It is worth stopping and visiting Peratallada, a beautiful medieval town that maintains all its essence despite the fact that the many people who visit it have left their mark. The Romanesque church is located outside the town center, which is walled and whose dry moat was the result of the limestone that was extracted from it when it was used by the Romans as a quarry. Its narrow streets take us to the castle square, the palace of the noble family that ruled these lands and show us their power.

We visited Peratallada on a weekday in September and there were surprisingly few people about. We spoke to a local resident who told us that the population of the village year round is only 50 .
Parking was free and there was plenty of space.
I much prefered Peratallada to the more famous nearby village of Pals which,in my opinion , is too exploited.
If you are in the area it is well worth a visit. There is no shortage of bars and restaurants. It is also a photographer's delight.

Hola! quisiera saber como llegar desde Barcelona? alguna excursión?

Buenas! ¡Buen viaje!

We will be staying in the centre of Peratallada. Are there any food shops? If not where is the nearest supermarket which also opens on Sundays?
Written June 29, 2018
Im not sure, the whole village is tiny, if there is a shop, it should be just a basic one. But if you have a car, it is better to shop in a bigger town (like Palafrugell, a few km from there) if you need more than food.

Gracias,

Hi. We were only there for two days in mid October. There was always at least one restaurant open and the tourist office. I imagine sept would be good but why not email the tourist office? HTH.
