About
ES NECESARIO REALIZAR RESERVA PREVIA VÍA TELEFÓNICA. AFORO LIMITADO.

It's like many others I have seen. It's probably an old palace and what do you do with it? Stuff with a bunch of bric-a-brac - some good, some atrocious, some sublime and presto you have a museum, a tourist site you hope will help garner .. tourists generating employment and tax revenue for the city. The more places you can create, the more likely you are to rope in people looking for a place to go. And that's OK. Even after seing a bunch of these, I still enjoy visiting them, most of them, at least. The best of this genre can be fantastic. This one does not quite reach that exalted status. Nonetheless, if you are in Lugo, I would definitely go. It’s fairly big and it’s got a good variety of things to gawk at, including some mosaics (floors, etc.), the mandatory archaeological items, paintings and more. Again, it’s not mind boggling, but it’s a pleasant way to spend an hour or more. And if you read the descriptions, you always learn something you did not know. Finally, I feel an obligation to go. If no one goes to these places they will be shut down and there will be no place to see these pieces of history.

The sundials and other artifacts over the centuries are displayed in a way that you can examine them in depth visually. The museum is FREE and well worth stopping by.

Often provincial museums are poorly put together, and have a range of disjointed exhibits. It was therefore a awesome surprise to visit the Mueseo provincial de Lugo, which was set in the former monastery of San Francisco, and well worth the visit. Being set with a monastery, the museum highlighted various parts of the former, providing some insights into monastic life. A great selection of complete Roman tied floors and panels were also included, along with a selection of ancient art. The cloisters contained a great selection of architectural artefacts, while the upper floors contained a wide selection of art from ancient to modern times. Something for everyone and well worth a stroll, even just to view the renovation of the building complex itself.

We only had a very short time here, but we knew there was one of the best collections of Celtic good jewellery here, dating back as far as 1,800 BC. Most of the objects are neck torques, of which the most important is a ceremonial torque, which weighs 3.5 kilos. There is much else to see in the museum, but that will have to wait for another visit. The museum is located in the pedestrianised centre of of the old city within Lugo’s Roman Walks, next to the Petronius de San Pedro.

This museum has a lot of great art inside. Paintings, sculptures and archeological foundings. It is not allowed to take pictures inside, so it was a bit disappointing, but everything is held in the memory. :)

This compact and excellent museum is definitely worth a visit. Apart from the building itself, centred around a stunning medieval cloister, the exhibits offer a glimpse of Galician life of bygone days. For instance, an old kitchen with its tools, various pieces of furniture as well as 17th century clocks.
One glitch. Most of the information, labels and description are in the local Galician language. Not even in Spanish.
You'd have thought that paramount to a museum would be the concept of opening up to the outer world and non-local visitors. And yet...

Absolutely stunning place with so many varied exhibits.
The gold room was particularly spectacular, as were the mosaics.
I would set aside a whole morning to meander round this magnificent place.
