About
The museum tells incredible stories of Cromer people putting their lives in danger to rescue strangers from the sea. At the heart of the museum is the lifeboat stationed at Cromer during WWII. There are puzzles, model boats, Morse code practice and more in this super, family-friendly museum.

- chairmanglasgowGlasgow, United Kingdom119 contributionsNotable museumVisited this museum on recommendation of owner of our holiday let. Went here after seeing lifeboat launch on Sunday morning training run(worth seeing itself). Excellent and interesting museum. Not just about a brave man but information about RNLI and Cromer. Well worth a visit especially as it is free. While did not have any small children with me they were catered for with opportunities to dress up(my two always relished the chance to do that).Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 18, 2023
- Caroline FGrimsby, United Kingdom35 contributionsGreat museumWe visited the museum whilst on a visit to Cromer. There's so much to see, of which the old lifeboat is the highlight. Information about Henry Blogg is presented really well and will appeal to all ages. It's free to enter and well worth a visit.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 23, 2023
- Claire P138 contributionsMost informative - what a man Henry Blogg was!First time visiting. So glad we did. What an amazing man Henry Blogg was rescuing all those people under difficult circumstances. Monty was a huge pooch - enjoyed learning about his story too. Volunteers were lovely. Couldn't imagine going out into a Force 12 gale in that boat.... or crashing it over the deck of a floundering ship. Testimony to all the brave men and women who brave their lives to save others.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 12, 2023
- John ELowestoft, United Kingdom14 contributionsExcellent ... wheelchair lift down to the seafront.Having a public lift is brilliant – it takes wheelchairs (and able bodied folks) down from ‘The Gangway’ at the top to the RNLI museum at the bottom of the cliff. This building also has very good and accessible public toilets. Then we went along to the End of the Pier Show. Brilliant show and accessible. See review on their own section.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 7, 2023

What a great little museum. Really well laid out and plenty of interactive exhibits for both adults and children. It’s free to go in but please leave the suggested £2 donation as it’s vital we support the RNLI in their amazing job work in both Cromer and round the country. Volunteer staff throughout the museum were also amazing !

We were so looking forward to visiting this famous museum but unfortunately we were unable to do so. During our holiday in North Norfolk HM Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away so, as a mark of respect, the museum was closed for the full 10 days of official mourning.
When we visit Cromer in 2023 we very much hope to be able to visit the museum.
The RNLI is the most fabulous organisation & its crew & other volunteers perform the most magnificent service….a BIG thanks to anyone of its staff/crew members that read this post.

This is a superb little museum. Henry Blogg was an amazing man, you only have to look at the medals he was awarded to get an idea of his bravery. Read the accompanying information, and you realise what an incredibly modest man he was, too. The museum is really interesting, and has plenty for children to get involved in, as well as adults who are still big kids! It's also thought provoking to see the boat they used, and the equipment they had, then go to the end of Cromer Pier and see the boat that's in use today.

This is a fascinating museum that rightly pays tribute to Cromer's most famous son, the great Henry Blogg, believed the most decorated lifeboatman in the world. His ship, the HF Bailey was recovered after it was taken out of service and stands proud in superb condition with photos and articles around the building paying homage to Blogg and the other brave folk who have kept the lifeboat at Cromer staffed.
The volunteers who staff the museum are friendly and knowledgeable and there is something for everyone here and even better, it is free.
It is impossible to walk out of the museum without feeling very humbled.

Look at the sea, particularly in winter. Look at these tiny boats. Then you understand just what bravery means to take these tiny boats out into THAT. Great museum. Lovely staff. Good cafe.

Hello Mrs Williamson.
You are in luck. Tomorrow is the station open day which means full demonstrations by both lifeboat and lifeguards too. There will also be lots of stalls with home made cakes etc, a falconry display, children's activities and music, all to raise funds to keep the boats and crew saving lives at sea. It all starts at 10am with the lifeboats due to launch at around 3.15pm. Hopefully see you tomorrow.
Best Regards
Jacqui

Hi Andy,
We get lots of younger visitors and it's lovely to see them coming back time after time. There is quite a lot for them to do from dressing up in crew kit, measuring crabs and trying out the speaking tube.
If you decide to bring your children for a visit then please let us know what they thought.
Best Regards
Jacqui

It's free, which is amazing these days. They do welcome donations and we were more than happy to oblige.
