For our kids Fall break, we headed north from Denver to South Dakota to check out Mt. Rushmore, Badlands and Wind Cave. We originally planned to visit Mt. Rushmore in the morning, but we had a quick change of plans when we found out that...More

It is in the middle of nowhere, but there is so much to do within a short drive. We enjoyed learning about Mt Rushmore and even met the last surviving driller who worked on Mt Rushmore in the gift shop. We had heard from many...More

Very impressive. Nicely displayed. The visitor center is first rate. You must come for the evening lighting ceremony if you have any patriotism at all.

This is such a must see! Easily accessible. And certainly adequate parking if you arrive early enough. Weather can make the visit even more interesting. I don't know what it may be like in the spring, for example, but we were fortunate enough to visit...More

I would just ask at your hotel about a bus , I would not recommend walking it , as there are mountain lions in the area , we saw one when we were there .

The best time for Rushmore is May-Sep when the outdoor evening light show is running. We avoid early August Sturgis weeks to avoid crowds, long lines and higher hotel rates. We like leisurely arriving Mount Rushmore in... More
