We loved our trip to South Dakota and Mount Rushmore. It was my first time as a 38 year old and it didn't disappoint. My only regret is the trail closure was ill timed for our visit. Otherwise, it was great.

Spectacular.A must see. There is a museum there that is great. Children and adults can learn about how the rock was transformed.

Growing up I had always seen the monument in pictures, shows, and movies but nothing compares to being there in person. It is an amazing place to see. Plus it's lit up at night! Take the time to walk around, see the documentary, and get...More

This is by far one of the more memorable parts of out trip. The views are fantastic, do watch the video before you venture on the paved trails to take it all in. If you can go to the night ceremony it is very special.

Of course you need to visit this national monument at some point in your life. It is amazing and beautiful. Visit the audio story too. Amazing what workers accomplished during that time.

One more thing crossed off the bucket list. It’s awesome to think why someone would take the time to create it.

There is no admission to Mount Rushmore, but there is a $10 parking fee. I think that it is good for a year though just in case you want to come back and see it lit up at night which I would recommend. There is...More

I agree that 2 hours seems a reasonable time to see the monument.

I would just ask at your hotel about a bus , I would not recommend walking it , as there are mountain lions in the area , we saw one when we were there .
