there is a parking place on the road right behind Mt Rushmore. They have steps that lead down to the lake and a trail sidewalk trail that goes around the lake. Beautifl for taking pictures

We drove around the lake and it is beautiful from all sides. Very quiet and serene. The views of the lake are spectacular so it is worth the drive, and it gives you something else to do when you are in that area. There are...More

We did a quick 'drive-by' of this lake whale in the area. So pretty. It was very foggy with steam coming off the water. Probably a good place for a picnic if u have time.

The only nearby showers I know about are in the hotels/motels serving the Mt. Rushmore/Keystone SD area. You would need a fishing license from the South Dakota Game Fish & Parks (see their website for an online application).
