There is not much to see at Basingwerk - some of the ruin is more extensive than others. For a Cisterian Abbey it must have been a small one. The guide book was very reasonably priced at £2.50.

This ancient abbey was one visited by King Henry V and others. It is in a beautiful setting and has a very well designed museum and cafe on site. Can be reached easily by car or a beautiful footpath from the centre of Holywell.

Found this place by accident while looking for a railway walk. Small abbey on a pilgrims walk. Could do with some more information boards. There are toilets in a visitor centre for the adjacent attraction.

A short visit at the start of a long walk. Has a free car park below it! Very interesting especially when accompanied with guide book which can be bought at the museum gift shop right beside the abbey. Some lovely views from the ruins but...More

The remains of the abbey are quiet stunning and are set off the road so the place is wonderfully peaceful. there is a small cafe right next door that does great food (the breakfast is recommended)

A great religious site with some fine standing walls and surrounded by more industrial remains. There is also a farm park for the younger visitor.

Ruins of a 12th century abbey close to the St Winifrids well pilgrimage. Very interesting and it is definitely worth a visit.

Very interesting and photogenic Abbey ruins, very much enjoyed our visit. However, we agreed that the Abbey would greatly benefit from more on site information so that visitors could more easily orientate themselves.
