A lot of History here.

Several places to see here, the NHP, has a very good interpretive center. Didn't know Jim Bowie was in a nasty fight in Natchez. He took a knife to a gun fight, and WON! There is... read more

Several places to see here, the NHP, has a very good interpretive center. Didn't know Jim Bowie was in a nasty fight in Natchez. He took a knife to a gun fight, and WON! There is also the Melrose mansion, and the William Johnson house. Like I said, a lot of history in Natchez. To see all of it, be... More

Very nice place To start your trip into the Natchez Trace PRKWY. A lot of historical stuff and you always leave places like that wondering and learning something.

We made a point of visiting Natchez just to visit this park, but with limited time, we made a point to arrive when park was due to open (8:30 am) but found visitor center and exhibits closed until 10 am. Since it was a rainy and cold day, paths were muddy, under repair, or flooded, so we took a few... More

Natchez Historical Park is a place to see. You should also tour the city to see all the beautifull houses. In order to organise the visit, pass first to the Visitor center to get a tour map. You can do the tour by youselve or get a organized tour from the visitor center. Personnaly we did it by ourselves without... More

We visited this when we did our Natchez Trail route. I'm glad we drove out of our way to see it, but because it was raining heavily the day we visited, we didn't get to do much. Definitely try to go on a sunny day.

This place is a good intro to the trace, its origins and its meaning for the settlement of the post-revolutionary early west beyond the Appalachians., enjoy!

My boyfriend and I were in our final leg of a two week road trip and stopped by this Historical Park to break up the drive and visit some of the southern history. We arrived at about 3:50pm right before another tour should've gone out. The park rangers gave us some maps and said we could explore on our own... More

We arrived at Melrose at around 8:45 and there were already people there. Tours begin at 9:00 am at the top of every hour and continue until 4:00pm, the park closes at 5:00pm. The Johnson house downtown closes M-TH during the month of July. Our tour began promptly at 9:00 am and it was led by the park historian. The... More
