Natche Spring Tableaux ;" Pilgrimage"

In 2000, we went to the Spring pilgrimage but had heard that it had been rewritten. So when we came down to Natchez this year, we decided to see it again. We were glad to see... read more

To be clear, we planned our entire week in LA Plantation country and Natchez Spring Pilgrimage to coincide with ability to attend the Tableaux. I have mixed feelings about the 2016 performance of the Natchez Tableaux. I first saw the production in 2009, and was literally blown away by the lovely details of the costumes, the music, the dancing, and... More

I recognize that they're trying to be modern and inclusive and in some ways, you can't believe that this is still going on. But at moments, I thought the Tableaux was one of the scariest things I've ever done. Think Leni Riefenstahl's films of Hitler's olympics crossed with Waiting for Guffman. Sadly, there aren't enough gay 12 year olds in... More

In 2000, we went to the Spring pilgrimage but had heard that it had been rewritten. So when we came down to Natchez this year, we decided to see it again. We were glad to see that it was still in the old City Auditorium. The seating is 3 sided with the box seats reserved for local dignitaries. The show... More

The date of this particular visit was actually in 1992. This is an annual event that runs for a week in late March and early April each year telling the story of the Natchez Indians and includes the Big Maypole performance for older children and the Little Maypole for preschoolers. My son was a part of the Little Maypole when... More

Great concert during Art Weekend. The place was packed. Every seat was a good seat. Look forward to attending future events.

I was prepared to be a bit snarky about this, but it was captivating. Even my jaded 13-year-old son enjoyed it. Sure, it has its hokey moments, but the costumes are lovely and the dancing very well done. Plus, the thought that this community can put this on every year, with so many roles to fill, is worth celebrating. It... More

I like the way the young people do the pageant and they do a nice job. We had never seen it before, and have liked all the special events they have at pilgrimage time.We also liked the satire play they had and the "road to freedom" singers.

We went to the Confederate Pageant held in Natchez during the Spring, and it was an enjoyable event. Sadly the auditorium wasn't very filled with tourist, however if you want to experience a history of old antebellum dancing of days ago, then book your ticket for this event.

Scenes of Natchez past are presented through the efforts of approximately 300 residents of Natchez. The city auditorium provides a good setting for the presentation with seating on three sides -- box seats on the floor and elevated seats behind. There's probably not a bad seat except maybe in the far corners. We purchased our tickets at the visitor center... More
