Very disappointing that there is a big gate at the entrance which does permit you to even see the site. We were here on a beautiful Oct day and thought it might be closed but most historic sites allow you to walk around without a...More

Newfoundland has spent a lot of money, marketing the province to us westerners. It's surprising therefore, to find all their Provincial sites to be closed by Labour Day.

Nice visitor center. Very friendly people working there. Good history of the fort. Getting up to the fort is a very steep walk. New stairs (also straight up) are being put in at mid-July 2017. Nice views from the fort.
