This is a beautiful spot. It is in the jungle highland, which interestingly has groves of non-native pine trees on the drive up. The hike around El Nicho is about a mile, non strenuous. There is, however, some climbing. I was lucky to be there before the tour busses arrived. We took a cab from Cienfuegos to El Nicho, about... More

Very nice place The restaurant by the waterfalls was really good. If you want to try local food , order banana mash: it was so delicious with some garlic, cheese and onion. Unbelievable if you want to try local food.

The El Nicho waterfalls are among the most beautiful places I visited in Cuba. There are several natural pools that you can swim in and the view into the Valley is breathtaking. It is very crowded though. A lot of groups are visiting, crowding the natural pools and the viewing spots. I highly recommend to go there individually instead of... More

This was a great visit BUT the hike in and out is very strenuous, along a path that isn't much more than a rocky (VERY) gully. The last part is a 400 vertical drop hike to get to the pool. Triggered an asthma attach for me (I am 67) so I would just be aware of how strenuous it is.... More

Very beautiful waterfalls (there are multiple levels), clear water, good temperature to take a dip (we visited in December) and trek around. Will recommend.

Take your own taxi. Dont go on the cruise ships excursion. You will save a ton of money and get there first. We had it all to our self. When we was going back to the taxi the big groups were coming. We payed 60 cuc for the taxi both ways. A perfect trip

If you're visiting Cienfuegos or another town close to El Nicho you should take a day and visit this beatiful waterfall. I had an amazing time in this fantastic nature. Don't forget you're bathing suit.

El Nicho is located in the Grupo Guamuhaya part of Sierra de Trinidad mountains. You can get there Via Cienfuegos, it's approximately 46 kilometers distance from there but we were staying in Trinidad which is about an hour away. You can get there from Trinidad where the main road going to the waterfall is four kilometers west. It's a shorter... More

This is a fun place. First you will see a place to eat when walking to the falls of which there are several. One can get into the water and sit in the falls. A very popular place.
