we went as a detour when we moved from Cienfuegos to Trinidad for a few extra CUC on the taxi fare. It is a stunning location and the short hike up the hill to the top pool is well worth it just to spend time...More

Well worth the detour. It is a short hike from the road up to the first pool, then up to the bigger pool, and farther up for a great view of the valley. Enjoy a cool swim. It was a bit crowded when we were...More

This place has changed so much that I couldn’t recognize, the drought has done great damage, but still retains its charms, only that you have to hurry to see it as if global warming will continue to be without Nicho.

Although a little bit far from Cienfuegos. This place is worth to go to. Rent a motorbike and drive there by yourself, take a bath and enjoy some food in the restaurant close by.

You arrive and think I will hike to the falls but instead you are put in a group with a guide. He is great and points out the wonderful things along the way - wildlife, trees, plants. Wear good shoes and don't forget to be...More

Gorgeous wilderness to hike through, with articulate and considerate guides. The ascent has its steep stretches, but these are well compensated by swims at two different pools fed by cascades. A highlight of our trip.

Really was a great place to visit..reall enjoyed it. Get here early. The taxi to the place can be expensive but better than the bus!!!

This is a must see. Also bring your swimming suit. The path to many of falls is rough going but the views are beautiful. On the first fall you climb on a rock and slide into the blue pool. All fresh water. Absoluting amazing

It is a bit off the beaten track, but Well worth the drive. It is between cienfuegos and trinidad, consider to include el rancho (pelicans) on this trip. Bring your Own lunch and water, the only restaurant is decent, but not really good value for...More

A fantastic overnight trip to Trinidad from Varadero that incorporated Cienfuego and El Nicho on the first day, an overnight at Trinidad and a stop off at Santa Clara on the second day. The trip was booked through Holiday Place concierge (Eduardo) and facilitated by...More

Hi Kim, tried to locate this information online and it appears there are two agencies/services under the name Cubanacan. There is the "main" Cubanacan Grupo (phone: (537) 833 4090 email: esppromo2@cubanacan.tur.c) and there... More

Hi. I have been to El Nicho and loved it. This time I'll come with agroup pf friends and have time only for one waterfall. I have seen photos of Javira and Vegas Grande waterfalls and now trying to decide which one of 3 to visit. We definitely want to swim on the waterfall. And of course would like to se beautiful scenery as in El Nicho. Any comparison between them in terms of beauty of scenery, swimming, walk easiness to reach them, duration of walk to reach them etc would be great :) Thank you

I was at El Nicho in December, over the holidays. The entire trail is about one mile and the falls are very close to each other. You can get in and out of the park to view falls in an hour, if you don't take the entire... More

I was thinking of doing the same, hiring a taxi to bring us from Cienfuegos to the falls then to Trinidad. Is it safe to leave things in the car? Would taking a tour provide more security? Has anyone had a tour or taxi from Havana to El Nicho then to Trinidad?

Yeah, totally safe. Of course depending on the driver. But as stated already: Cuba is generally really safe. Keep the really valuable things on you while walking around El Nicho (like you would do in any country), and your... More
