After a 5 days of boat trip from Narsarsuaq, we arrived to Illulisat and took a Helicopter tour to the Icefjord. Only from air you can see how huge is the Icefjord. It's breathtaking. And when you land and stand on it you realise how small are the people. If you get to Greenland - it's a must!

The most amazing thing I've ever seen with my own two eyes. Ice calving off of the Greenland Ice Cap, squeezing out through a fiord, and into the open ocean where bergs begin their journey down to the coasts of Newfoundland & Labrador! Absolutely breathtaking.

This should be added to your Greenland itinerary if it isn't already included. Plan to spend at least 3 days exploring the area and photographing the icebergs in various light.

Ilulissat is unique in the world. From land, you can hike several trails, including the popular Blue Trail, and hardly see anyone, while getting spectacular views of the bay and icebergs sitting in the bay, some of which seem taller than the surrounding mountains. The walk to the trail passes thousands of Husky and other sled dog hutches (a little... More

The best way to do a night cruise among the icebergs in June ore July ,the midnight sun keeps them glowing like pure Gold, they are like big houses by size, you feel very small. Dress yourself warm and waterproof, the summer in Greenland at night very cold.Next day you can fly on the glacier with landing, another magical feeling

Right outside the town there is a UNESCO heritage natural park with three hiking trails. We went on the blue trail which was about 7 km/4.5 miles. Trail starts with a wooden boardwalk and after that is well marked. There's lots of going up and down, some rock crawling, but the views are stunningly beautiful. I guess I have expected... More

This is one of the must-be-done activities in Ilulissat. You can join a boat your when you are in the town. Make sure that you have tick clothes and pack a bottle of Hot n' Sweet for your cruise.

As part of our North Atlantic cruise, on 8/20 my wife & I boarded one of our cruise ship's zodiacs to explore the spectacular icebergs that are continuously calving off Greenland's largest glacier. Our 2-hour trip was spectacular & great fun. Lots & lots of photo ops (see attached). Do this if it's available to you!
