A beautifully tranquil place to visit - with a vast number and variety of stunning butterflies. After a short video you can take your time to observe these lovely creatures.

Our group stopped here for lunch. We decided to pay a little extra to seethe butterfly’s. Worth every Penny. Amazing to walk through them.

A very cute, nicely done butterfly pavilion. Our guide, Michael, was the star. He was so kind and so good at his job - he gave us our intro, explained the stages of butterfly lifecycle, and helped us with a table in the restaurant. He made the experience very smooth! The restaurant is incredible, some of the best food we’ve had in Ecuador. Very vegetarian friendly.

It was interesting to see full life cycle of butterflies. I wish they had more varieties of butterflies. If you rub some ripe fruit on you, they may attach themselves on you. You need an hour or less in there. It is not a big butterfly farm.

A big disappointment than one year ago. It's gone downhill...kids running around shaking the plants, dead butterflies floating in the pool and only about 3 kinds of butterflies...like they were mass produced. If you want a better experience try Nathaly's.

The site is quite large and is well laid out. You can stay in the main domed area and also go through to an outside section. There was a sign saying you could feed a butterfly and have it come to your hand but i never actually found the section that would do this. i did like the guided tour though and the best part was seeing the area with the pupa and cocoons at various stages of growth. Could see these close up including newly formed butterflies.
I had thought beforehand that this was also a place with orchids and a separate garden to walk around but I never saw that and was directed to the butterfly centre only.

Simply unbelievable. So much more than I expected. Indoor, outdoor, and observation tower areas. This is a top attraction and a must see to experience.

Truly a fabulous and educational experience. So beautiful. The best part was the "maternity ward"...the cocoons themselves a work of art.

Great stop for tasty food with a decent sized menu plus the star attraction of butterfly centre, along with attractive souvenir shop. Nice walk up with pretty stream and water features as well as feeders for exotic birds.

We ordered food first and then went in. We had an informative demo about butterflies and then were left to walk around the attractive garden with walkways and further water features. The butterflies are of course on most plants and flowers as well as food tables. Lots of photo opportunities. Lovely colours and amazing detailed wings. There is also a section to see butterflies coming out of their pods and drying out. A second outside section through curtains offers more lovely garden and walkways with more butterflies to see. There is also a high tower to view the centre from above. Everyone was looking for the blues which were about but their wings were closed due to weather.

Returned to the restaurant and shortly after had a nice big burger. Big plates of food too. Nice friendly staff too. Very likeable place to visit.

I wasn't expecting a lot here, although $7.50 entry is quite expensive for Ecuador. But it was well worth the cost. A short 5 minute explanation of the development from egg to butterfly and you are left to explore in your own time. You first enter the large covered are, both netting , obviously to retain butterflies, and a rain-proof dome, necessary for the long rainy season. And we were there on a wet day.
The number, varieties, sizes and colours of butterflies are amazing. They are seemingly everywhere, quite magical. There is a board, about 2metres x 1 metre of pupas developing, we actually saw 3 hatch out and start to open their wings in a short time. Then outside to a similar sized area but higher netting with no rain-proof cover. Wonderful plants, a waterfall, less volume of butterflies but very nice. From here via secure netted doors to prevent escape you can access several towers for views over the site and the forest.
