For $6, we saw more beautiful butterflies than we've seen elsewhere. It isn't extremely modern, just a natural place blending in with the landscape and doing a great job producing butterflies. Hard to sit for more than a moment before several settle on you shoulder!!

After a short introduction about the work carried out at the centre and information about the life cycle of the butterflies you enter an indoor garden full of a wide variety of different species of butterflies and a small orchid garden. You can also see new butterflies emerging from their pupa. We got some amazing photos and spent a very... More

A great place to see lots of butterflies up close and in/ even on your face. They do a good job here of breeding the butterflies for the wild and educating people. Well worth a visit

We walked up to the butterfly farm. The scenery and wildlife was good. We didn't see a toucan but plenty of other birds. The farm was nicely set out. The hummingbird feeders and carp ponds outside a plus. Once inside there was plenty of space both for butterflies and humans. Particularly good to be able to see all 4 stages... More

I love butterfly gardens. So much so that I usually go in most cities I visit, including my hometown. This one was average in comparison, yet my husband and I had the place to ourselves for a good 15 minutes. It was during that peaceful time that we could see the iridescent colors flutter by without obstacles and it was... More

it was beautiful, better than we expected. We also got to see hummingbirds and toucans on our walk from town. But the highlight was how beautiful the butterflies were

Our guide, Washington Sierra Cruz (washingtonsierra at hotmail.com) took us to Mariaposario near Mindo Ecuador. This is a butterfly haven and conservatory. We have been to other butterfly houses, including one near our home in Durham NC, but this one is exceptional. So many beautiful butterflies in the perfectly sized area. Big enough to support a wide variety of butterflies,... More

Butterflies were flying everywhere and so many of them. There were many varieties, all different colours and sizes. It is an amazing place where you can sit and pass the time watching so many butterflies flying around. It is definitely worth the entry fee of $6 per person. We went at about 12pm and were lucky enough to have the... More

This place is well worth spending an hour or two. (The restaurant isn't bad either.) See butterflies at every stage of their development.

Just a short drive from downtown Mindo - this mariposario is well worth the trip! Hundreds of butterflies of different species available for view with different phases of the lifecycle present for you to observe and learn about. They will do an introduction in Spanish or English depending on the visitor.
