    Lovely setting
Able to wander through this state capitol building at own leisure seeing the various state offices a lovely setting with great views of the snow capped mountains. Free parking on site. Opposite is the tourist information office.

    A beautiful Capitol building
We went on the 45 minute guided tour with Nan. She had lots to share and very knowledgeable. I would recommend going on a guided tour. The building and grounds are beautiful. We try to visit the capitols in each state while traveling.

A must do if in Salt Lake City!
Excellent free tour of the Utah State Capital - visited the house chambers, senate chambers, supreme court, etc. The granite and artwork throughout the capital is fantastic. The docent shared a lot of very interesting information about the capital and the state of Utah on the tour. Be sure to book in advance.

    Self guided tour works
Stopped in early one evening and did the self tour. It was quiet and we were able to move about at our own pace. There are a lot of cool spots to photograph and some good light reading spots for the history of the building.

Easy visit, wonderful docent, but interesting exhibits and architecture even if not
The docent made the visit. Like many activities, the guide can make the experience. We were fortunate to have a woman who is a life long resident of the state and has given the tours for several years. I would hope others are as good, but can't say. We learned some about the building, but also a lot about the state. Our tour lasted about 45 minutes and extended another few minutes because she was so open about sharing information. The main entry has several exhibits that are well done and add to what you learn on the tour. Plenty of parking, but then we visited in one of the nine months the legislators aren't in session.

Stopped in one morning and did the docent-led tour. Our docent (Kathryn) was lovely and really knew her stuff. This is a beautiful building all decked out in marble and rich in history. A great way to learn about the state.

    Beautiful capitol
The Utah State Capitol is beautiful! It sits on the top of a hill where you can see a great view of SLC and the Wasatch Mountains. Definitely make sure to walk around inside. The murals and artwork are a must see.

Beautiful building- make sure you go upstairs and see the House, Senate and Supreme Court. Surprise at how small each were.

A really cool building to see, inside and out! There were free tours or you could just wander around yourself. Nice views of the city and mountains from there too. Definitely worth a visit

I enjoyed the history, architecture, and state civics on the free tour of such a beautiful building. Plus, there’s a nice view of the mountains from Capitol Hill.

Extraordinary and grand, like Washington but different. Wide open space around formal and in a beautiful location. A good day out in the sun
