You can even hike this in dress shoes, if you have to. Be sure to look up the history on Wikipedia before or during your hike (or read the trailhead plaques). Views are great. Go at dusk or dawn--you won't be disappointed...unless there's one of SLC's many inversions. Almost always have people around unless you go really early in the... More

This "edge of the city" hike can be done by all levels of hikers/walkers. Parking is available on street. Nice views looking down the valley.

OK, once you're at the summit, the view is really gorgeous and you feel like you're hovering over SLC in a helicopter. But the walk up to the peak is pretty depressing; lots of signs telling you to stay on the trail, trash along the trail, lots of washouts and unmaintained areas that demonstrate a total lack of community support... If you're looking for an easy hike, although steep in some parts, with a great return at the end, this park delivers. Your enjoyment will depend on your shoes and your degree of fitness. We visited on a fall afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The spectacular site at the end gives you an elevated view of the city... More

Beautiful view of the city on a clear day! Easy hike, set aside an hour or two and you'll be happy. Its great for children, families, and a great start to see the area.

This is a fairly easy hike although steep in some places. We took young children and had to carry them up most of the way. The trail is well maintained and took us about 30 minutes to get to the top. Once at the top, we saw a 360* view of Salt Lake Valley. It was spectacular!!

There is a small and fancy neighborhood just behind the capitol building where you go to get to the trailhead. Look or signs for the trail. You will have to do street parking. The trail is short and fairly easy to get to the top though there are some steep parts. You will want to go closer to sunset to... More

This is an easy climb and fun quick activity. You drive to just below the peak and then hike up a well established trail for just a little ways. The view is worth it.

A short (but steep) 20 minute hike to an amazing view; the best is sunset over the Great Salt Lake when the surrounding mountains glow and the downtown lights come on. Parking is an issue, but I suspect the local neighborhood would be opposed to increased traffic.
