Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium!...

Discover the amazing underwater world of the Texas State Aquarium! Thousands of animals representing over 320 different species are ready to enchant, entertain, and inspire you. Corpus Christi's most popular cultural attraction has welcomed over 12 million visitors since its grand opening in July 1990. Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Aquarium's mission is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

Grandchildren loved the exhibits and can't wait for the new part to open. Great raining day activity.

We visited with a school group last year and this year and had a great time. The dolphins were my favorite and it's so interesting to watch them from below the water line. Yes, it's a smallish aquarium but they've done a great job with it and I understand they are expanding it.

This is a trifecta experience for all. You can stay as long or as short time as you want and enjoy every moment. Next year it will be world class. Corpus is truly becoming a vacation destination for a fun as well as educational experience.

The aquarium was a lot smaller than I expected. The number of species was very limited. No seals, no penguins, only 2 small sharks, no walrus, only one alligator. I was very, very disappointed. I had high expectations. If you've been to Sea World San Antonio, or even the San Antonio Zoo, save the money and don't come here. On... More

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit. While you are correct that we do not have some of the species you were hoping to see (seals, penguins, walrus), our animal collection does include more than 3,000 animals representing more than 300 species, and we offer presentations every half-hour around the facility. We hope that you will... More

The place is under a massive upgrade. Disappointing exhibits. How many jellyfish do you need to see! Fish tanks are boring. Hopefully the reno involves more than new cinder blocks.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit and did not enjoy our more than 3,000 animals representing more than 300 species. The construction to which you referred is our 71,000 square foot Caribbean Journey expansion, which will open in the spring of 2017 and will allow us to add many more species and habitats. That... Great family fun, great staff. We live taking day trips from Harlingen just to go here. Can't wait for the expansion to be finished!

My husband, grand-daughter, and I loved the Aquarium! Being from Mobile, Alabama, loved the Gulf of Mexico exhibit . Also, the relationship with the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, which is 35 miles south of Mobile. Lots of great volunteers to answer any questions. Gift shop is the best! The outside exhibits and the view of the Lexington were great. All... More

The Dolphin Exhibit was closed and the rest of the attractions were pretty limited compared to other aquariums we have visited.

Unfortunately, we had a pipe crack beneath our Dolphin Bay exhibit on May 22. The pipe delivered sea water to the exhibit, so we had to move the dolphins off exhibit to the back pools until the exhibit could be repaired. As a result, the dolphins remained off exhibit for one week (until May 29). We apologize that your visit... More

My husband and I drove down from Fort Worth Thursday, March 17th (and came home on Saturday morning, March 19th. We spent the afternoon at The Texas State Aquarium. It was much smaller than I expected, but it was the perfect size to see everything and to spend a relaxing & fun 4+/- afternoon hours. I remember seeing it being... More

We enjoyed viewing the aquarium and the stingray petting area is way cool. While here make sure and visit the USS Lexington docked close by. These two adventures go well together but a lot of walking for small ones.
