If you are up for an adventure, drive 25 mi. (exactly) down the beach to Big Shell Beach, just a bit past Little Shell. More shells than you can imagine. Must be some good fishing too. Something about ocean currents meeting that wash up millions? of shells, and the currents "polish" many of them to a smooth texture. Call ahead... More

If you have 4 wheel drive and want to get away from people this is the place to go. There are no roads for MILES so not many people make the trip.

This is a nice shoreline and being able to drive along it allowed for long beach walks while "hopscotching" the car. My only complaint is the amount of trash. Enough people visiting lack the integrity to clean up after themselves so that it negatively affects others following.

Beautiful, untouched, peaceful, quiet. I had heard about Padre Island from a friend who used to live in Texas. Was not sure what to expect but it's serenity is awesome. There are places to stop before you enter the park and a visitor center, but not much other than nature at its best. We parked right on the beach and... More

Driving on the beach was fun, 4x4 is recommended. Possibility of seeing nesting sea turtles. Interesting to see an untouched, natural beach. Fishing, swimming and more fun.

Padre Island is a very long barrier island on the Gulf Shore of Texas, and is well worth visiting. There are restaurants and a pier one can fish off of as you approach the National Park, and once inside, if you have a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle there is a road that leads over 60 miles South along the island... Came for a weekend and stayed a week. Nothing but beautiful breezy days. The weather was rainy at beginning but plenty of sunshine for the season. We took in fishing and swimming. Could not ask for more. Jetties need some trash pick up, other than that pretty well kept. Locals and tourists very friendly. Great place to spend Thanksgiving!!

if you've had enough of the dirty, crowded beaches in Corpus Christi, take the short trip down S.P.I.D. to North Padre Island State Park. The park is clean and easily navigated. There's a stop with info for the kids, showers, and a quick stop for food, snacks, drinks, etc. Truly an incredible place to see a beach as they were... More

Very clean and inviting. We love the water. This is a great place to visit with your family, just know that there's no lifeguard.

Large pavilion area at welcome center with picnic tables and over 10 indoor shower stalls (women's side) for rinsing off. Facilities in great condition. Walkway gets you very close to beach access and then you can walk for miles along small dunes and packed sand. Fine, white sand good for sculpting. Found no shells or sand dollars at main beach...
