Small but interesting wildlife park

It was a small but interesting park. We did not see as many birds as others told us in year's past but enjoyed visiting and walking around.

SOOOOO many water fowl and shore birds- this is a must see for hummers in the springtime and too many to count usually.

We live close so it's an easy place to go for an afternoon walk and bird watching. Somewhat run down but I have seen some identification signs replaced and some brush pruning done so it seems the city is aware work needs to be done. Paths are wheelchair accessible. Measures are being taken to install cameras for safety.

We have been regular annual visitors to this Park for several years, always during the winter months as an add-on to our visits in the Rockport and Port Aransas area. We were extremely disappointed in how much the vegetation has been allowed to grow up and obscure views of the birds. No comparison to years past, sadly.

We parked and walked the trail towards the playground area. The trail is wide and made with asphalt materials. The views were nice and we saw different birds. The play area was nice for the kids and the boys were able to climb a little bit in nearby trees. If you go for geocaching, I wouldn't. 2 of the 3... More

If you are near Ocean Drive/Ennis Joslin (near Texas A & M CC), and have 15 minutes for a walk, take advantage. The birds like this because of the water coming in from the Oso Wastewater Treatment Plant across the street.

I have taken my kids here a few times. It is great. If you walk the whole trail, you can see the shore, but it's not really a swimming place. We start by the playground a block over and walk to the pier (1/2 mile). We see pelicans, gulls, Rosetta spoon bills, ducks, sandpipers, etc Plus some raccoon tracks .... More

We went when we knew another group was there! It was fun to hear someone who knew more about bird watching than us! We saw a good amount of birds to make it fun for the kids!!!

The trail in the park is short, including the boardwalk. There are signs up throughout the park advertising you are being video recorded, but I didn't see any cameras. Looks like a small park that was saved for the bird migrations if you are a bird watcher. No bathrooms and only one informative display. No entrance fee. Here are some... More
