The Historic Brownsville Museum is inside the old Southern Pacific Railroad Depot. I never went inside the Museum, but I loved the Building. Almost 100 years old (built in the late 20s) it is full of extravagant details. On Madison on the edge of downtown.

The building alone is worth the visit. The history exhibited in the building was well done. Learned so much, better understanding of the RGV and its people.

Love that the museum has all different types of events that involves everyone. During these events it involved different types of activities that help promote the local culture. The museum invites schools to have field trips so the students learn of all the local culture.

Although this museum appears to be very small from the outside, it hold a large treasure of historic items. There are great displays about the history of the RGV; there is also a good selection of books for adults and kids. Next door is the...More

This is a small museum with a variety of artifacts. We enjoyed the information about life in Brownsville and how the area was settled. There is also a beautifully restored locomotive that was fun to see. The lady at the front desk was very helpful...More
