I thought the Agate House was fascinating. It is a short branch walk off of the Long Logs trail, with an array of petrified logs along the branch route. A great photo op. The walk from the trailhead is a bit of a hoof before...More

If you are debating making the extra hike over to the Agate House, make it! This is really an amazing structure. You can walk up to it and get pictures inside the structure and of the lovely view of the forest from the hilltop. It...More

Nowhere else will you see semi-restored ruins of a house made of petrified wood! Get an interpretive guide booklet at the visitor center before visiting these individual sites. By itself, knowing this is feature #5 is not very helpful.

It's an easy walk to the Agate House. There is lots of petrified wood to look at along the way. It is amazing to see what the Indians made with petrified wood. It has lasted for centuries. The colors of the petrified wood are beautiful,...More

The path here is actually shorter than stated on the map if you go direct. The building itself was really neat, glad they don't use the petrified logs for this purpose anymore. The path was also neat because you could go to the long logs...More

Visitors to the Petrified Forest must get out of their car to enjoy the park. This is one of the many sights. While not necessarily the most impressive site, it is a must stop. Lots of great history here.

It is near the southern end of the park and also on the same trail as Long Logs and is worth a visit. It requires a walk of a mile of more but the scenery is good as is the interesting old structure that date...More

One of the stops inside Petrified Forest National Park. Agate House is an approximately 700 year old pueblo that is made up entirely of petrified wood pieces. This is a beautiful structure that is well worth the 2 mile round trip walk if you enjoy...More
