Already a run down place with few attractions and restaurants, high crime and poor pedestrian access, the downtown portion of Central is unsightly and difficult to navigate because of the new "transportation system" being installed. The University and restaurant row sections of Central are also affected, albeit not as seriously.

The main vain of the town, and part of Historic Route 66. The Central avenue is under reparations and it is traffic nightmare now.

Central Ave in Albuquerque is the old Route 66 thru town. It is now all torn up so they can put a light rail rapid transit train down the middle of the street. The street used to be 4 lanes but at the moment most of it is 1 lane each way with blocked off intersections. It took us almost... More

Route 66 also known as Central Avenue - this is the original route west traveled in the late 40s and 50s. Most of the stretch through Albuquerque is under construction as they are renovating the entire city and area but it is still worth the drive. Many old retro motels and diners..be sure to stop at the 66 Diner. Great... More

I have been working in Albuquerque for 13 weeks and the entire time I have tried to avoid Central Avenue because of the construction. There are so many restaurants I would like to visit but the construction makes it impossible. The locals have complained about the construction constantly. I am leaving the city soon as my assignment is complete, I... More

Central Avenue, especially the Nob Hill portion, is not to be missed during your ABQ visit. The architecture, signage, and cultural aspects are completely unique. You'll find great restaurants and bars, antiques and artifacts, boutiques and bargains. Our favorite restaurant on Central is Yanni's, with outstanding Greek food, plus creative American and Italian dishes, excellent desserts and a fine full... More

Albuquerque is a beautiful city until you get to Central Avenue SE, so many hookers and homeless panhandlers. City does nothing to rid their streets of either.

The restaurant is excellent. We were seated immediately in the outside patio area which was beautiful with flowers. The service staff waited on us as soon as we were seated with our beverage order. Our breakfast order was perfect and delicious. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served throughout the day. The service is excellent, the food was wonderful and well... More

Central Ave in Albuquerque combines remnants of classic '40's and '50's style with urban decay and despair. The old buildings, such as the Hiland Theater, show their art deco roots, and classic motel signs stand guard over the decrepit, sleazy, old establishments lining the Avenue and renting their rooms by the hour. Many of the motels are being demolished, but... More
